Discover Adventure with Spence
May 2, 2017 11:30 am | by

Dr. E. Lee Spence is a pioneer in marine archeology and is known for having a knack for adventure! This modern-day explorer is the inspiration for our Genius Series print “Spence” – released in August of 2014. In honor of this internationally known expert of shipwrecks and sunken treasures, our cloth diaper print depicts the hunt for unknown treasures! Pirates, compasses and treasure maps cover a landscape of Clementine, Sassy, and Moonbeam.

Traveling the Globe

A globetrotting enthusiast by nature, Dr. Spence has covered the globe with travels to exotic places in the Far East, Europe, Central and South America. He explored shipwrecks, castles, ancient ruins, secret passages and caves – both above and below the water line! As an avid diver, he eagerly jumped into the waters of the Great Lakes, the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean Oceans! His dives led him to discover numerous historical shipwrecks – all the while facing the dangers of being tangled in fish nets, running out of oxygen and getting lost inside a sunken ship!

Uncovering Sunken Treasure

Since finding his first shipwreck at the early age of 12, Dr. Spence has gone on to discover hundreds of wrecks and artifacts. He is best known for his discovery of the 1864 wrecked Civil War submarine Hunley, which was the first submarine to ever sink an enemy ship. Another major discovery was the 1863 shipwreck of the Georgiana, an armed cruiser belonging to the Confederacy.

A Genius Worth Exploring

Today, Dr. Spence not only serves as Founder & President of the Sea Research Society, but he specializes in shipwreck expeditions, museum displays, and is the author of numerous books in his field. His love of history, research and thorough documentation of his discoveries make him a Genius we think is worth exploring.

Join the Adventure!

Add Spence to your stash today with these diapers and accessories, available while supplies last. Plus, bumGenius 4.0, Elemental 2, and coordinating baby tees are on sale TODAY ONLY!
