Earth Day 2018

Earth Day is Sunday, April 22!

Do you have plans to celebrate Earth Day? You can take care of the planet year-round with bumGenius and Flip cloth diapers.

How do cloth diapers help protect the Earth?

Prevent waste. Switching to cloth diapers can keep tons of trash out of landfills.

What else can you do?

Here are some simple steps you can take to live a little more green.

Ditch dryer sheets for reusable wool dryer balls.

Use flannel wipes or washcloths instead of disposable wipes and paper towels.

Carpool. Lower emissions by riding to work with a co-worker who lives nearby or make a schedule so your kids can carpool on their way to school or other activities.

Collect rainwater. Rain barrels are a great way to collect rainwater to water your plants and garden.

Stop using straws. Millions of plastic, single-use straws are thrown away each day. Rather than adding to the garbage, either switch to recyclable paper straws or use a metal straw.

Wash laundry on cold. When possible, wash laundry with cold water so you don’t have to use energy to heat the water.

Efficient appliances. Most home appliances have an Energy Star rating. Look for appliances that are energy efficient. Whether it’s your washing machine, dishwasher or water heater, you can save money and natural resources.

Line dry. If it’s nice outside, let your clothes dry in the fresh outdoors.

Shorten your showers. Save a bit of water by taking shorter showers. Also, make sure you turn off the faucet while you brush your teeth.

Reusable bags when shopping. Ditch the plastic bags for reusable bags. You can even use bags designed to carry fruits and vegetables. Tip: these bags often hold up better than the thin plastic bags anyway!

Energy efficient thermostat. Don’t make your air conditioner or furnace work harder than it needs to. Invest in an energy efficient thermostat that will change the temperatures to your liking and allow the house to cool down or warm up while you are away.

Clean the air. Houseplants are a great way to help clean the air and add some oxygen.

Solar panels. While these are an investment, solar panels are a great way to generate energy from sunlight.

Reusable snack bags in lunch boxes. Don’t add more garbage to the landfill. This is an easy opportunity to use a reusable option.

Remember the basics!

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Follow this philosophy for a cleaner, greener Earth. Are you doing anything special for Earth Day! Tell us your plans in the comments.

This Earth Day, learn the benefits of cloth diapers plus other easy changes you can make to live a greener life.
