Just yesterday I poured my son a glass of milk and then I could not find the lid for the milk jug anywhere. I finally figured out I had put the lid in the cabinet with the glasses. Total mommy brain!”

Giving this some very serious thought. What can I not live without. After having my third child and going through a very hard Ike in today’s economy I have learned to live without a lot that I used to have. With my first child I had every baby product on the market. Somehow that seems to change with your second and even more so your third. Your diaper bag becomes less and less empty. Then when money plays a huge roll in what you can and cannot have the essentials become the things that are indispensable. I would have to say her carseat or her bed. I know it sounds lame but those are the two things she uses the most and I don’t know what I would do without.

My item would be the blankie! Both my girls love their blankets and must have them for bed and naps.

Though I love my cloth diapers, I would DIE without the Baby Bjorn. With the first, I wore it to keep him close. With the second, I wore it so the first could play. With the third, I wear it to keep him alive.

My prefolds because they are so versatile. There are so many items though.

Board books! They’ve been our baby’s favorite toy since day one and a stack of them keeps him interested for 15 minutes at a time – a mama’s lifesaver! (lauraclarekelly@hotmail.com)

Aside from my fancy smancy cloth diapers as the peditrician calls them….I would have to say my stroller. I don’t know what I would do with out it. My toddler can be a handful sometimes and with just having a new baby we use it a lot!

Our Arm’s Reach co-sleeper 🙂 It keeps him safe because I have caught dh with his elbow on LO’s head in the middle of the night when he was in our bed.

Definitely a baby carrier. We love our Ergo and in the early days I used the moby wrap the most. Makes shopping and getting her to take naps while out and about much easier! tricia dot young1 at gmail dot com.

Baby wipes are a must have and the most versatile baby product. They have an endless amount of uses and I am convinced everyone should carry them, even those without kids. You can clean food off an outfit, wipe a spot off shoes, wipe down a restaurants table top, clean off a messy baby, so on and so forth the uses never end. I love baby wipes! My Ergo!!!! DD is a high needs toddler and it is perfect. I can carry her around in it and not hurt at all. I had surgery in my back about 4 and a half years ago and my right shoulder can start to hurt really bad if I have to carry her in my arms for extended periods of time.

Aquaphor. I’m convinced that it heals everything, and my #1 son’s sensitive skin can handle it!

Couldn’t live without my stroller. Love the ergo carrier and a dozen other indispensable items. But I have twins and without the twin stroller I couldn’t go anywhere. Love my maclaren twin. Love it.

Miracle blanket for when they are infants and then hippo chair that attaches to the counter for older babies. They can sit, eat, play and be a part of the action in the kitchen.

this is such a toughy! I love my cloth diapers.. and my babywearing items. sling, moby, mei tais…. but I think for me it’s just time. I love spending time with my baby. just laying on the floor or laying in the grass… simple is best!

My stroller for sure. If this 5 ft. 106lb. momma had to lug my 23 lb. 1-year old I’d lose my arms for sure:)

The white noise machine. It goes with us everywhere. My mom even bought one for her house! I don’t think Tillie would ever sleep without it.

My Moby Wrap! For the first year I used it almost every day. I use it while cleaning the house, soothing, putting the baby to sleep, hiking, walking, and I’ve even used when I was in a pinch and had to shovel the snow out of my driveway. Just strapped my baby on and shoveled away.

Besides our diapers of course it would be one simple thing: washcloths. I use them for EVERYTHING! They clean up baby butts during changing time, bodies at bath time, spit up at feeding time, hands during playtime, and countless other spills and messes!

I already said the boppy, but after seeing other responses, the very first baby essential we had were our cloth diapers. We stashed up on those first and are all ready for baby’s arrival (except we’re worried she’ll be small and we bought one-sizes). We shall hope for the best! So, I guess those were our essentials, too!

My adorable cloth diapers!!! Life would be pretty messy without them! 🙂

Other than diapers, my sling. Total life saver w/ #1 who was always grumpy, but loved to be snuggled in the sling and would sleep forever in there. Total lifesaver with #2 because I was always on the run chasing #1! I’m sure I’ll be using it even more when #3 gets here!!

when my son was young burp cloths were everywhere and he always wore a bib, he just spit up all the time! Now as long as I’ve got my cell phone with me, I can keep him entertained. 😀

I can’t pick just one. My nursing essentials are: my boppy and my nipple shield. I can’t nurse without either of them (shoulder issue and breast issue) And of course my cloth diapers, I’m so glad we made the switch a year ago!
