Real Mom Talk: Holiday Recipes
November 25, 2015 8:57 am | by

Beautiful autumn trees, crisp air, a warm fire, cider, eggnog, and big family celebrations are right around the corner. This REALLY IS the most wonderful time of year! When it’s cold outside, I find so much joy spending time creating delicious food in my warm kitchen. I love to bake and I LOVE sweets, so that is usually what I contribute to potluck events. Here are some of my favorite tried-and-true holiday recipes. I get compliments every time! I have a huge family and there are tons of kids, so I stick with traditional desserts that everyone likes. But I

December 16, 2014 8:30 pm | by

When it comes to traveling with a baby/toddler, I think I’ve become quite the pro at it. Recently, we traveled 25+ hours, by car — with an energetic 2 year old. What an experience that was. With the holidays in full swing, I know many of you will be busy traveling with your own children. Here are a few helpful tips to make getting to your destination a little smoother.  Create a “Fun Box.” This was a lifesaver on our trip. I picked up a small plastic basket from the store and filled it with things that were fun like

Thursday Giveaway: Give a Gift
December 3, 2014 7:22 pm | by

‘Tis the season for giving. The holidays are a time for joy, celebration and compassion. For many families, it’s a chance to shower your loved ones with all their favorite goodies, but for those who are less fortunate, the holidays can be extremely stressful — and unaffordable.   Today, many families struggle to pay for diapers and other basic necessities like food and utilities. Share the Love was created to help these families — all year round. It’s a locally-sustainable, nationally-accessible cloth diaper bank that provides families with cloth diapers. This program enables low income families with reusable diapers, which

Thursday Giveaway: Holiday Freetime
November 19, 2014 8:07 pm | by

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is next week. Time just seems to fly by — even more so around the holidays.  This is the busiest time of year, so it can be especially difficult to find a couple minutes to yourself at the end of each day. If you’re a parent, the majority of your time is spent caring for others. From laundry, meals, cleaning, diaper changes, baths, and errands, there aren’t enough hours in a day to get it all done. And, if you use cloth diapers, you have to find a few extra minutes to stuff your diapers. Unless you use

Real Mom Talk: Valentine’s Day and Kids
February 10, 2014 5:32 pm | by

What I didn’t realize before having kids, was that traditions aren’t usually these well-planned out things that you plan on passing down to your kids. I guess maybe they can be but, for the most part, all of our family “traditions” are things that we did once, had a lot of fun doing, and decided to do again. Ta-da! Tradition is born! Making Valentine’s Day into a big deal is one of those inadvertent traditions that we’ve adopted in our family. It started with my buying a bunch of red and pink stuff in the store one year on a
