Why I Love Breastfeeding My Baby
October 25, 2016 4:21 pm | by

When I became pregnant with my first baby, I thought I had everything planned out. I wanted to cloth diaper, wear my baby and breastfeed for at least the first six months. I hadn’t been around breastfeeding mothers before I had my daughter, but I figured it would be easy. After all, it was natural, right? Little did I realize… babies don’t necessarily follow your plans and unfortunately, breastfeeding my baby wasn’t going to be as easy as I expected. With my girls, I had some difficulties. I dealt with cracked nipples, low supply, and a baby with horrible reflux. Our breastfeeding relationships lasted a

Fall Activities Bucket List
October 24, 2016 11:18 am | by

It’s officially that time of the year… The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, pumpkin spice is everywhere and you can officially break-out all of the sweaters and cardigans! Fall is, hands down, my most favorite time of the year. It’s such a lovely little transition from the warm summer months into the holiday season, so I always try to soak up the amazing weather and take my little one to do some of the fun activities that come with the season! So far, we’ve already made it to our local Apple Orchard and picked more apples than we could

Introverted Mama Musings
September 13, 2016 7:00 am | by

Let’s chat for a moment about being a mom and an introvert.  I often feel that in a culture that caters more to extraverted people, it’s a little more difficult for us introverted mamas to chat about our lives.  Talking may not be the easiest thing for us introverts, but there is another way.  Writing, on the other hand, is  has always been by outlet (easier than talking), so let’s start a dialogue about being an introverted mama.  Before Kids I used my mornings to recharge and get ready for my days full of children and parents.  I used to teach early childhood special

Back to School: The Second Time
September 12, 2016 11:09 am | by

This summer flew by! One day, we’re hanging out by the pool and the next thing I know, it’s time for the kids to go back to school! This may be our second year of “school life,” but I have to say – it does not get any easier leaving them on that very first day.  This year is a little more of an adjustment for me because I not only have a child in full-day kindergarten, but also one preschool half the day. I must admit – my routine is starting off pretty hectic. I’m basically a chauffeur half the day, driving back and

Reacting to My Fourth Pregnancy
August 23, 2016 4:07 pm | by

It was 5:00 am on Christmas morning. My husband was sleeping, blissfully unaware of the anxiety I was feeling as I laid awake next to him. I had just taken a pregnancy test and it was positive. No, this was not my first pregnancy test rodeo, but seeing that little blue line caused an old, familiar, mild panic to rise up in my body. Reality started sinking in; I was about to experience my fourth pregnancy. The evening before, Christmas Eve, is when 2 of my siblings joyously announced their pregnancies to our family. Which caused me to pause, re-count

Planning for Baby #2

Planning for Baby #2

Planning for #2 — We’d been trying for baby #2 for around a year or so now, and as soon as we found out that we were expecting, the “OH MY GOODNESS WE ARE HAVING ANOTHER BABY” mode kicked in. Since then, I’ve felt just about every emotion imaginable thanks to those ever-changing pregnancy hormones. It’s been almost four years since I had a baby, so I’m trying to take things slow, enjoy my time with my little guy and still prepare for our newest arrival! Here are a few things I’ve learned so far in planning for this second little

Real Mom Talk: Why I Love Babywearing
March 4, 2016 10:06 am | by

When I started working at Cotton Babies, I knew absolutely nothing about cloth diapers, babywearing… really, anything about babies. But it sure didn’t take me long to learn! In no time, I memorized the names and colors of every cloth diaper we sold and became increasingly excited to one day cloth diaper my own baby. The interest in babywearing followed soon after. I’d watch and chat with ladies around the office wearing their babies (yes, we bring our babies to work), I’d research the carriers we sold, I’d scroll through the Flash Mob and see photos of all the different carriers

You Know You Have Kids When..
January 31, 2016 6:30 pm | by

Kids. They’re fun. But also a handful at times. Since I’ve been a mom, there have been a few instances that TRULY defined what it meant to have kids. From bathroom retreats to spilled Cheerios in your backseat, you know you have kids when..? You know you have kids when… Going to the movies means a Redbox and pint of ice cream. You can’t remember the last time you went to the bathroom without someone sitting on your lap or crying outside the locked door. You feel obligated to tip the guys at Waterway $100 because you know how dirty your backseat was. You also

Real Mom Talk: What I Love About the Newborn Stage
November 1, 2015 6:52 pm | by

My sweet baby boy is nearly a week old, and I can’t get enough of this newborn stage. There’s just something extra sweet about having a tiny little human around who just made their debut on this planet. Since this is my third baby, I know all too well that the days seem long, but the months are short. This phase of his life is just going to fly by so I’m taking in all my favorite things about having a newborn while I still can. My favorite part of the newborn phase is cuddles. There is no better feeling than
