Real Mom Talk: Transitioning from Cloth Diapers to Potty Training
October 21, 2014 7:15 pm | by

As a parent, you’ll go through many phases with your child. It can be monsters in the closet, sleeping troubles, and issues with hitting. But what you don’t realize is that diapering is just a phase as well. Sure, it’ll be a phase that lasts up to three years, but a phase nonetheless. Transitioning from a cloth diaper addict to a potty training mom can be difficult. I’ll admit…. Bai is potty trained during the day and only wears diapers at bedtime. And I bought the new Bumgenius print- Martin. She may only wear it once or twice but the

The world is complex. There’s always a lot going on at any given moment, and if you don’t stop for a second, you could miss what’s important. But, how do you actually find time to break for a quick second when everything moves so fast? Try taking it down a notch and head back to the basics. Doing so will help you create a deeper appreciation for the simpler things in life. It may even help you see things in a new light, including cloth diapers. Easy-to-use systems like Econobum can really help you learn the fundamentals and principles of cloth

Review: weePOD Basix
July 4, 2014 9:25 am | by

My little guy has been quite interested in the potty for a few months now so my husband and I decided it was time to venture into the potty training world. I was a little hesitant as where to even start with the whole potty training stage. After chatting with a few Mom’s and hearing their suggestions/experiences we decided to give the WeePOD Basix. The first thing I noticed when we received the potty seat was the quality of the seat. It’s made from a super soft foam material, similar to a bumbo seat, which makes the seat firm, but

Review: Flip Potty Trainer
June 26, 2014 8:18 pm | by

Our just-turned-four-year-old son has been out of diapers for about a year. Or, he’s out of diapers during the day at least. Staying dry all night has been a bit more of a struggle though, so I jumped at the chance to try out the Flip Potty Trainer from Cotton Babies.  I learned pretty quickly that I would need to boost the absorbency, at least initially. But the great thing about the system is that it’s easy to add an extra insert. I loved being able to adjust to what we needed, instead of being stuck with limited options. And even

Thursday Giveaway: Preparing for Potty Training
May 7, 2014 11:04 am | by

There comes a time when your little one will outgrow their cloth diapers and begin potty training. And what’s a cloth diaper-loving mom supposed to do when this happens? Try out cloth potty training pants, of course! The Flip Potty Trainer Kit comes with one one-size cover that adjusts to fit from most kids 20-50 lbs (or approx. 18 mo. to 5T) and three organic cotton inserts. The trainer is made to slide up and down like regular underwear while the inserts are designed to catch accidents, allowing your little one feel wetness.  For this week’s giveaway, we’ve got a little

Potty Training – What to do when it’s time for #2
September 26, 2012 10:30 am | by

After almost 3 months of being completely potty trained for peeing (self initiating, able to go to the potty all by himself), my almost-3-year-old son still refused to poop in the potty. Any potty. Not his potty chair, not a potty seat on the big potty, not even the kid-sized potty at his preschool. Every single day, I used my diaper sprayer to spray poop out of his big boy underwear while we repeated the same conversation:Me: “Where does the poop go?”Him: “In the potty”Me: “Where did you put it?”Him: “In my underwear” *sigh* It got to the point where

How potty training affects laundry
June 23, 2012 9:36 am | by

Potty training, for us, means instantly less diaper laundry. Hooray! The potty training toddler is still having accidents, but it is definitely a huge difference to have only one baby in cloth when I was accustomed to two. I’m no longer having to run loads of laundry and stuff pockets late into the night because I’ve run out of diapers. Occasionally, the diaper pail wet bag is actually full before I run out of diapers! While I’m really enjoying less urgency in washing my stash, I’ve also learned from the more experienced cloth diaper mamas that I have to be

Tuesday Giveaway: Potty Training made easier!
June 12, 2012 9:55 am | by

Since we’ve been talking a lot recently about potty training, this week’s giveaway is two of our favorite items to make things a bit easier for you once your little one begins showing signs they are ready to potty train.   The Flip Potty Trainer Kit comes with one one-size cover that adjusts to fit from approximately 20-50 lbs (or approx. 18 mos to 5T) and three organic cotton inserts. The Flip Potty Trainer is made to slide up and down, more like regular underwear. The inserts are designed to catch accidents, while still allowing your little one feel when

Better Life Soap and Lotion!
June 8, 2012 4:39 pm | by

We’ve been talking about potty training a lot this week. One thing is certain when you have little ones in diapers or potty learning, you wash your hands a LOT. My skin was the worst during the years I had three children wearing diapers. I have sensitive skin and it was difficult to find a soap that would wash away all those germs without tearing away my sensitive skin with it. That’s why I’m so excited Cotton Babies now carries No Regrets hand and body soap and Cool Calm Collected hand and body lotion. I first tried Cool Calm Collected
