bumGenius cloth diaper styles look pretty similar from the outside thanks to our patented butterfly closure system with stretchy tabs. This feature helps get a secure fit every time. Inside the diapers is where the real differences exist. So, let’s take a look inside bumGenius diapers to see what’s the same and what’s different between styles.

Original Pocket Diaper 5.0

Our Original Pocket Diaper 5.0 is a pocket style diaper. Because it’s lined with smooth, stay-dry suede cloth, the lining pulls moisture away from baby’s skin. You will see an opening on the inside of the diaper by the back waistband. This is where you insert the absorbent layer in the diaper. Each 5.0 diaper comes with 2 inserts: a one-size insert and a diaper doubler. Use each insert on its own or use together for more absorbency.

Freetime

bumGenius Freetime is an all-in-one diaper. Two flaps of stay-dry fabric are attached at the front and back of the diaper. If you flip the diaper over, you will see the flaps are each attached on one end. For smaller babies, nestle the flaps on top of each other or fold to provide more absorption in the front or back. The design of this diaper helps it to get completely clean on all sides and helps to make the diaper dry quickly. The flaps also help poop to fall into the toilet.

Elemental

The bumGenius Elemental is also an all-in-one diaper, but its absorbent layer is made of organic cotton. Besides being luxuriously soft, organic cotton also makes the Elemental the trimmest bumGenius diaper that is ultra-absorbent. The “no‐stuff” system with semi-attached, organic cotton inserts offers faster drying time because the middle is not attached. Fold or tuck the organic cotton to add absorbency wherever baby needs it; typically in the front for boys and the back for girls.

Flip

A Flip diaper cover is an all-in-two cloth diaper. Choose your absorbent layer and pair it with the cloth diaper cover. We offer Flip Stay-Dry Inserts, Daytime and Nighttime Organic Cotton Inserts, and even a Disposable Insert option. What sets Flip apart from our other diapers? Cloth diaper covers can be reused between wet diapers. Just give it a quick wipe down and add a new insert. For a poopy diaper, the insert and cover will need to be changed. Notice that Flip diapers have a contour flap across the back to keep the insert from peeking out.

What Stays the Same

First of all, one-size bumGenius and Flip all diapers have stretchy tabs with two rows of snaps to create a custom fit every time.

You’ll also find our patented 3×3 snap down design to adjust the size of the diaper from small to medium, and large. You can expect 5.0, Freetime, Elemental and Flip to fit babies from approximately 8 – 35 pounds depending on the size and shape of the baby.
