Mom to 3

Columbus, Ohio

Amanda is a stay-at-home mom of three who keep her on her toes! Her family resides in Columbus, Ohio — the Buckeye state! She ventured into cloth diapering a little "late," but is a firm believer in "better late than never!" Amanda enjoys her morning coffee, spending time with her littles, buying too many cloth diapers, much-needed pedicures and the rare date night with her husband. Real Mom Talk: How We Will Introduce Baby #3
July 27, 2015 7:28 pm | by

It’s been over three years since there has been a new baby in the house. In a little over three months, baby #3 will born! I would be lying if I didn’t say that I’m nervous to bring a tiny human into our home again. We’ll be starting all over — breastfeeding, cloth diapers, baby wearing. Literally everything. But the thing I’m actually most worried about is how the girls will take to this new family member. Aubrey was only 18 months old when her sister arrived, so it didn’t really change anything. We weren’t into a groove or anything yet for her life

Real Mom Talk: Why You Are a Good Mom
May 10, 2015 5:42 pm | by

Every mom is a good mom.  You wake up early every morning to feed your kids breakfast — whether it’s cereal, eggs, or a quick granola bar. You’re up, working hard, to get your kids ready for the day… even if you had a rough night with a sleepless child and could use a few extra ZZzzZs. Every mom is a good mom.  You may need a shower from constantly being on the go, but instead, you pull your hair back, throw on a pair of sweatpants, and sport that “tired mom” look with a smile. Every mom is a good

When you start using cloth diapers,  everything seems like unicorns and rainbows. Really. Who doesn’t want a rainbow of colorful diapers and their unicorn print? 😉 But then, your baby starts eating solids and you find out that cloth diapering isn’t rainbows and unicorns at all. It’s actually full of poop. Poop that is in your cloth diapers that has to come out — some how, some way! Now let me warn you, cleaning the poop is going to be messy. And it certainly isn’t fun. This doesn’t have to be so bad! You see, there are people thinking about us parents

Real Mom Talk: Family New Year’s Resolutions
January 7, 2015 7:36 pm | by

Now that it’s a New Year, I’ve decided to focus more on what I can do for my family instead of what I can just do for myself. I’m not one to usually make New Year’s Resolutions because I always feel like I can and always work to improve, but I felt like I could use the new year as motivation and I’ve decided to focus on my family new year’s resolutions. This year, I’m going to improve our family life. Changing things for the whole family can be difficult if it’s too drastic or something they’re not on board with.

WARNING: This post contains information about bodily functions and is personal. Periods. And I’m not talking about the kind that go at the end of a sentence. Yes, I’m referring to your menstrual cycle. Did you know there are other products you can use during period than tampons or disposable pads? More than likely, you already cloth diaper your baby (especially if you’re reading this blog), but are you still using disposable products for yourself? Maybe you don’t know what’s really available. Maybe you don’t know how easy reusable menstrual products are to use. Or maybe you’re grossed out by the idea. If

Real Mom Talk: Treating Colds Naturally
November 6, 2014 7:38 pm | by

Since my family began using cloth diapers, we’ve ventured into other products that will help us live a more natural lifestyle. When cold and flu season hit, we try to be proactive and prevent nasty germs from getting us sick, but I also make sure we’re ready when it finally makes the house come crashing down. For prevention, my husband and I amp up our Vitamin C intake. Mainly, it’s just me because he forgets. I also make the kids some Elderberry syrup and I want to try making Elderberry gummies. I take a spoonful every now and then, but

Real Mom Talk: Transitioning from Cloth Diapers to Potty Training
October 21, 2014 7:15 pm | by

As a parent, you’ll go through many phases with your child. It can be monsters in the closet, sleeping troubles, and issues with hitting. But what you don’t realize is that diapering is just a phase as well. Sure, it’ll be a phase that lasts up to three years, but a phase nonetheless. Transitioning from a cloth diaper addict to a potty training mom can be difficult. I’ll admit…. Bai is potty trained during the day and only wears diapers at bedtime. And I bought the new Bumgenius print- Martin. She may only wear it once or twice but the
