What is a bumGenius Refresher Kit?
August 6, 2011 5:15 am | by
Cloth Diaper Creams
Did you know we offer bumGenius Refresher kits to help you get a little extra life out of your cloth diaper investment?
If you or someone you know has some basic sewing skills, for just $1 you can replace the elastic and hook & loop tabs for your beloved bumGenius cloth diapers.

Each bumGenius refresher kit includes three new pieces of elastic (back elastic and two legs), new tab closures and new laundry tabs. Each kit also includes instructions for sewing your diaper refresh kits into your bumGenius cloth diapers.

The tools you will need to provide to refresh your cloth diapers are a needle, thread, scissors, seam ripper, a safety pin and an optional sewing machine. These can be replaced by hand sewing, although it is a bit more time-consuming.
If you have further questions about our bumGenius refresher kits, give us a call at 314-892-1855 or live chat with us on www.cottonbabies.com

We don’t include the front landing strip for the hook and loop because most times, replacing the tabs and giving the front piece a trim with scissors will be enough to hold.

Removing old loop tape and sewing on new can be tricky and create more holes in the PUL layer, which can lead to leaks.

My question is about the front panel too. Is there a reason you don’t have replacement parts for that?

I was curious as to why you don’t include new velcro for the front of the diapers in your refresher kits? Mine all eventually wear such that the stitching comes through the velcro and they start to fall off. What do I do to replace this part?

I like our refresher kits!I fully understand the time commitment invested when you choose to go with cloth diapers and I realize that not everyone can give that.I always removed hooked & stuff then i sewed new material its very easy and help to growing clothing program.

Hi Megan, we consider the overall quality of the diapers in our Growing Up In Cloth program. Tab conditions are only one part of that evaluation. We evaluate each diaper individually, so there is no hard and fast rule about refresher kit usage.

Loved our refresher kits!! My MIL is the sewing expert, so I removed all the old hook & loop stuff, then she sewed the new material on. She said it was super easy and quick.

Quick question that’s been on my mind about the refresher kit: Does that (refresher kit with home sewing) affect the value if I want to eventually sell them back as part of the Growing Up in Cloth program?
