Have you ever bought a bumGenius, Flip, or Econobum diaper that had markings on the label?
These markings all serve a purpose. Each one has a different meaning that will help you identify the quality and condition of the cloth diaper you’re purchasing. Whether you’re snagging a second, a cloth diaper from our Growing Up In Cloth program, $1 Diaper Sale, swap groups, or private party, we wanted to give you a general breakdown of the meaning behind each marking:
G – Gently Used
Gently Used diapers have very minimal wear and are in excellent condition. There are no stains or marks inside or outside of the diaper. The laundry tabs look great and work well, elastic is in good condition, there are no tears, snags or fraying. Closures also work well, seams are intact, and waterproof treatments are sound. No discoloration and includes original readable tags. These diapers do not include inserts. This product is final sale.
R – Repairable
Repairable diapers exhibit some type of defect (i.e. – elastic or tab failure). These “reloved” (aka- used) diapers are usable but need repair. Plenty of parents may use these diapers for an inexpensive boost to their diaper stash.
W – Well Loved
Well Loved diapers have been used — most likely a lot. These diapers may have stains, the PUL is intact with no cracks so waterproof is functional. Well loved diapers may have pilling, could need repair of hook/loop and/or fuzzy hook/loop, etc. These diapers still have some loving left in them so bring one home today. These diapers do not include inserts.
S- Seconds
Second quality diapers are new, never used product. They do not come in packaging. These diapers have not been used and are labeled as “second quality” because of a slight cosmetic issue that prevents them from being sold as first quality. Second quality diapers do not include inserts (unless specified) and are not covered under the Cotton Babies warranty or 30-Day Money Back Guarantee. These diapers are sometimes also marked with an “X.”
Diapers that are donated through Share the Love are marked in a few different ways. You may notice a heart on the tag, a hole punch inside, or a slit on the inside flap. These diapers are not eligible for resale. If you find a diaper with this marking on the inside for sale anywhere, please take a screen shot and notify Cotton Babies immediately.
Marketing
From time to time we host giveaways with product that has specifically been allocated for marketing purposes. Marketing diapers are marked with an M on the tag.

You can re-seal PUL!!! Please tell me how!
I also did not know that you could reseal PUL and would love to know how!
Any bumGenius seconds I have ever seen have an “X” on the tag. Is the “S” a new thing?
I didn’t know it was possible to reseal PUL. Can you share how? Thanks!
