Mommin’ ain’t easy. It’s hard to hold it all together. A lot of moms keep the schedules straight. Make sure no one goes hungry. Keep the house livable. Always pack diaper bags. The list of what moms handle is ever-growing and ever-changing. All while trying to be a “cool mom.” In an effort to retain my sanity, I find that being organized helps. I also love to shop. Why is it that when I am spending money on my kids or my husband, I have no qualms about getting them the best, but when it comes to me, I tend to question the money I spend? #momlife.
Pre-kids, I loved buying handbags and high heels. My oldest just turned 3 1/2, so it’s been about 4 years since I splurged on a purse for myself. Instead, I’ve replaced my purses with diaper bags. I’ve always been drawn to large bags, so it’s not that surprising. In my mind, I will carry most of these after I’m done hauling diapers and spare clothes around. That’s because I strategically choose diaper bags that don’t look like diaper bags.
Pink Lady in Training: Ju Ju Be Diaper Bags
I know I am way late to the game, but I just jumped on the Ju Ju Be bandwagon. I got sucked into watching packing videos on YouTube, and it honestly seemed like I “needed” to splurge and buy myself a few pieces. I am a few weeks in, and I’ve gotta tell you, no regrets! When we are out and I need sunscreen, I know it’s inside my Be Quick inside my Be Classy. I can give my daughter and/or husband directions on exactly where to find anything in my bag. There’s no more dumping the contents onto the sidewalk to find what I need.
There are a lot of reasons to love Ju Ju Be. These diaper bags really do not look like diaper bags at all. They come in a ton of gorgeous prints. Machine washable. So many pockets that each serve a wonderful purpose. I’m trying to decide which Be Set will be my next purchase. The Be Set includes 3 pieces. You can use the big or medium piece as a crossbody bag or wristlet which is totally genius!
Ju Ju Be Bags are machine washable, which is a major selling point for a mom of toddlers. Kids are messy, but I don’t have to worry about keeping my bag pristine. It will look great after a wash.
My Heart Skips a Beat for Skip Hop Diaper Bags
While the Skip Hop Duo does look like a diaper bag, it is still visually appealing to me. So much that I have it in 2 prints- whoops! I first bought it in Chevron. One day at the pediatrician’s office, another mom walked in with French Stripe and I had to have it. Signs of an addict? Possibly. But French Stripe is a great bag for summer months. It wipes off easily and I adore the outer pockets.
Besides the Duo, I really love the way the Chelsea Downtown Chic Satchel looks. I would definitely carry it on date night or to the office.
Give It Up for PBB: Petunia Pickle Bottom
Honestly, the Downtown Tote by Petunia Pickle Bottom is gorgeous. I see women carrying bags like this all the time! But this one is specially designed to be easy to clean, easy to organize, and easy to change diapers on the go with a removable changing pad. I would feel fantastic carrying this bag because it doesn’t scream, “Look, I’m a mom!” It’s got more of a, “Hey, I’ve got great, timeless style” vibe.
These are just a few of our favorite diaper bags that don’t look like diaper bags. Shop all of our diaper bags here and be sure to check back for new bags!
