My mom would load my brother and I up in the car along with a cooler filled with juice boxes and stuff to make sandwiches and we would spend the day at the peninsula. We would do this atleast once a week all summer long. They are some of my best memories. I definitely want my kids to experience not just the peninsula but the closeness we experienced as kids.

My mom made up stories about my alter ego, Hoppity Hop the Rabbit. Hoppity Hop had done all the things that I was scared of doing, and after hearing about HH’s adventures, I would be brave enough to try them, too. I want to pass on this sense of adventure and reliance on imagination to my son.

It’s not what she said, but she just trusted me to make my own choices and to make good decisions. Sometimes I did, sometimes I didn’t. 🙂

My mother and I always baked and made cookies together. Every year we would set weekends aside to make Christmas cookies and create gifts to send to neighbors and friends. I can’t wait to start the tradition with her and her new grandchild this year.

My Mom would kick us off the television and make us go outside to play! Definitely doing this with my kids in this TV/Internet/video game world.

My mom has done foster care for newborns for 20+ years. She led by example in teaching my sisters and I to love those who may not be able to show love back, and to be a family to those who have none. I hope I can teach my kids the same!

My mom loves to bake and it was always one of our traditions – especially around the holidays. I can’t wait to be able to pass that one along to my daughter! Buying her first Easy Bake Oven will be a really good day for me!! 🙂 (I went through at least 2-3 when I was a kid!)

My mom always saved money for the important things in life, and taught us how not to spend it on the things that didn’t matter. In the long run, we were always able to go to the special things like church camp every year because she had used the money wisely and saved for whats important.

My mom taught us to always be ourselves, if someone didn’t like it – oh well. I’m glad I grew up with such support and plan to teach my girls the same.

The one thing that my mom did when I was growing up was cooking for us and teaching us to do things ourselves, this is something that I will instill in my girls. I love to cook and bake with them and I hope that this is something they will do with their children when they are grown.

I want to pass along some of the holiday traditions from my childhood, particularly Christmas cookies. My mom made (and still makes) cookies for families, friends, and coworkers, and even sold them to the teachers at my school for extra money when I was little. Her cookies are awesome.:) I can’t wait to pass along the recipes and bake and decorate cookies with my daughter.

My mom would sing a song to all of us.. She would use our name and called it “Our” Special song.. My mom has 11 children and she did this for each and every one of us..

I now sing this song to my 4 children and use their name… They request “Their” Special Song each night before bed.. They tell me they cant sleep without it..

I hope to one day hear them singing it to their children..

My mom always made me breakfast, even when I was a high schooler. None of my friends got breakfast from their mom in high school. Homemade Egg McMuffins too.

My mom always called our shoulder blades our “angel wings”. I’m trying to remember that to teach my girls. They may not always be perfectly behaved, but they are my angels

Always did everything she could for us, even if we didn’t have the money. She wanted us to have the best, even when it was scraping by to send us to private school. Thanks Mom!

Every holliday my mom would put a pin in that theme on my pillow before I woke up in the morning. I was always so excited to wake up on valentines or halloween and find my cute new pin to wear to school.

My mom was very careful to not keep sweets in the house. There are so many families that have pantries full of snacks and sweets and encourage their kids to eat all that junk. I hope my kids can grow up with a strong foundation for eating healthy.

My mom always told us not to be afraid when we were driving by ourselves and got turned around. She always said…”You can never be lost. Just stop, think about where you are, turn around and go back exactly the way you came until you find something you remember.” It has always worked for me. Still to this day, I never consider myself lost…just misplaced. 🙂

My mom did so many things I want to pass on to our daughter – my favorite was that she would play with me, downright, play, imagine, roll around play – she made me feel like I could do or be anything. My second favorite thing is that she would say my prayers at night and we usually landed on praying for “no bad dreams and no bad thoughts and only good dreams and good thoughts”. She was and still is an AWESOME mother.

My mom would come down the hall every morning singing annoying songs she made up about it being a great morning or what we were having for breakfast to help motivate us to get out of bed. I hated it at the time, but can’t wait for my daughter to get a little older so I can do the same thing!
