Inside Cotton Babies: Afternoon DJ
September 5, 2012 2:05 pm
At Cotton Babies, we love music! If you walked through our office and warehouse, you’d see people with iPods, wearing ear buds and occasionally music coming through speakers. In the marketing office, we even like to play “Afternoon DJ,” a game in which we each take turns choosing a song that’s often based on a theme for the day. Our musical styles vary greatly, as do our ages, so the result is often fun and entertaining.
To celebrate 30,000 Facebook likes on the Cotton Babies page, we put together a little playlist to give you an inside peek at what a day in the CB offices might be like. We polled some staff members to share their favorite songs and, in turn, we’re sharing them with you!
One of the first songs we knew we had to share was Rolling in the Deep by Adele. For months, this song was a favorite among the wholesale department. They loved it so much, that those of us on the other side of the wall heard it at least once a day. Eventually, it became the punchline to many jokes and even made an appearance at our office holiday party last year.
My choice for the list was You Can’t Always Get What You Want by The Rolling Stones. I’ve always enjoyed this song, but it became a family favorite a few years ago when my sister-in-law started singing it to our toddlers. What started as a joke, quickly became the family response to toddler tantrums. One of my favorite memories is of my daughter, barely 2 years old at the time, singing the chorus to one of her brothers while we were driving down the road. Let’s be honest, if rockstars like the Stones, with their vast resources say “you can’t always get what you want”, then it must be true.
So, if you’d like to know a bit more about the Cotton Babies team and what we might be listening to as we pack your next order, check out our Spotify playlist HERE. Thanks for sharing your love of Cotton Babies with your friends and helping our Facebook community grow. Here’s to the next 30,000 new friends – Cheers!
Have a song you absolutely love and listen to over and over? Share it with us in the comments, it might just end up in our next edition of Afternoon DJ.
