We’ve had a lot of requests for more information about the ingredients of Flip disposable inserts.
We’d requested some very specific information from the factory and late last week, finally received everything you were asking for. As most parents know, many companies that manufacture disposable products do not disclose the exact composition of those products. We know that you care about what goes on your baby’s bottom though (so do we)!
- Non-woven bamboo viscose, 5g
- Filler
- Wood pulp, 14-15g
- SAP, 3g
- Starch-based glue, 1g

Are the inserts bleached?
It sure would be nice if there was a disposable insert option without the gel. I’d definitely consider these if that was an option, and I’d gladly pay more.
Looks like Tushies are still the only gel-free disposable alternative.
It is much shorter than disposables? I haven’t seen any info on this. Work from home India
are the disposable inserts biodegradeable??? I’m thinking NOT since that info is being left out… seems that would be important for us to know huh?
So these are not flushable at all, correct?
Also, I started using these today and I like them a lot. They’re very absorbent. However, they shift around too much and that’s a problem and caused us to have a leak. I think if they were as wide as the stay dry inserts or at least the width of the diaper cover, that would make a big difference.
How long does it take them to break down in a landfill? It is much shorter than disposables? I haven’t seen any info on this.
Thanks for finally posting the SAP numbers. I know I, among others, were waiting for the numbers. It is the same as Gro Baby Biosoakers. The average disposable has 10-20 for those wondering.

All my readers know (or should!) that my favorite cloth diaper is the bum genius organics aio. But it has company now!
I received the Flip system a few days ago. I washed the stay dry inserts with some towels and then immediately started using them.
Since Sterling’s birth in March I have been using the same system (why change something that ain’t broke?) but I started thinking about the stay dry aspect. I had convinced myself that Sterling was waking up because the fitted we use is bamboo so he feels the wetness. I said a prayer (for dry sheets!) and doubled up 2 inserts and put him in bed.
Now I wish I could say he slept through the night HA! but he did wake up dry and with dry sheets! What a blessing.
The Flip system is so amazing in that it combines the bum genius shell- that fits and adjusts better than any other one-size- and the economical, space saving idea of a changeable insert.
I have tried other systems similar to this but never had lasting success.
Non-cloth diaper parents would have no clue why I was so emotional over a diaper! But, Flip has made a big aspect of my life easier.
I absolutely can not wait to recommend Flip to my readers! This is the answer MANY of them have been begging, praying, dreaming of.
