Since I had my little guy, my morning routine has really simplified and the time it takes for me to get ready has significantly reduced. In 15 minutes or less, I’m ready to walk out the door. It’s not that I let myself go, I just have become a little more comfortable with just being myself … and more health conscious of what I’m putting on my face, body and hair. After having a little one and looking back, I often cringe on the money and time I wasted on harsh beauty products that didn’t do my body a bit of good. So now, I keep it fresh and simple. Here’s what my “mom morning routine” looks like.
WASH – For face wash, I started using Dr. Bronner’s, diluted. This stuff leaves my face clean, it lasts forever and is very safe to use. I buy a lot of Dr. Bronner’s stuff including their toothpaste. It’s hands down one of my favorites. The soap is incredibly versatile and great for your face, hair and body.
BODY – Lets talk about those pits. I don’t know about you guys, but nursing threw my hormones all over the place. I went from rarely ever sweating, to sweating like crazy. I’ve tried many, many deodorants, but the ones that worked were usually full of harsh chemicals and incredibly unsafe. I started using Lafe’s Natural and Organic Deodorant that we carry right here at Cotton Babies and it works incredibly well. It’s not heavy, smells light and goes on smooth. It comes in a spray as well and you can buy it HERE.
MOISTURIZER – It’s taking me many, many years to find that perfect moisturizer, especially since my skin changes throughout the seasons. For a night cream, I usually turn to my trusty jar of coconut oil and for daywear I use this oil from Biossance. I’ve been using it for almost a year now and it is awesome. It’s evened out my skin tone, made some yucky dark patches on my face disappear and my breakouts have significantly reduced.
EYES – Sleepless nights called for a little TLC in the mornings on my poor tired eyes. I’ve tried many, many eye creams and this Enchanted Eye Cream from Lush is exactly what my eyes needs. The lavender honey water and cold pressed organic almond oil leave my eyes feeling fresh and looking great. If you live close to a Lush store, pick up a few samples of products, including this one! I promise you will not be disappointed!
MAKEUP – Aside from a little concealer here and there, mascara is my main source of makeup. A few quick coats and I can go from dead to alive in a matter of minutes 😉 I’m currently using this mascara from Sephora, but if any of you have an organic mascara you love, I’d love to hear what it is!
HAIR – To keep my locks from completely drying out, I usually keep my washes to a minimum. I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week, but to keep it looking clean, I have to use a dry shampoo on the days I skip washing it. This dry shampoo from Aveda smells so incredibly good, is light, easy to apply and keeps your hair looking clean!
