Why I love the Flip Diapering System

Luke loves his Flips!

I’ll be honest: at first, I was not a fan of Flip Diapers.

I originally bought my Flips when Vicki was a little over a year old.
At that point, she was still nursing a little but was mostly on solid food. And the combination made for some rather messy diapers.
I got frustrated with the Flips because I unrealistically expected them to contain those disaster diapers and still be able to reuse the Flip cover for the next diaper. (To be clear, the diapers weren’t leaking onto her clothes, but the poop was on the insert and the cover.)

I put the Flips aside and didn’t touch them again until I had Luke. Then I started using the covers over my Kissaluv fitted inserts. The combination was perfect for a newborn and I love the snap closures. I could use one cover for pretty much all day and never had a single leak.

Once Luke grew out of his newborn fitted diapers, I started using the Flip inserts again. I was a little nervous because of my past issues. But this time it was entirely different – I love them! It’s so easy to change his diapers because all I have to do is swap out the insert. If he poops, it will usually get onto the cover, but I just throw the whole thing in the laundry and grab another. I haven’t had any leaking or wicking issues since everything is surrounded with PUL.
Even better, my diaper bag is much more streamlined. With two kids in diapers, I sometimes feel like a pack mule. No matter how hard I try, the diaper bag is always stuffed to the gills. The Flip diapers take up much less space in my bag and allow me a little more room for snacks and toys.
The Flip diapers are my go-to diapers for running errands and they’re a great daytime diaper for Luke at 4 months old. I’m happy to have them in my stash as an inexpensive way to add a few more cloth diapers to keep me stocked between washings.
What do you love about your Flips?

Flips are definitely my fav! I am a sucker for a super trim cloth diaper and these do it for me! Plus I’ve never had an explosion or more than a leak or two. They rock! I put a hemp prefold underneath one for overnight and it is perfect!

We started with Flips because we had Babies R Us credit. We put receiving blanket flats and Target flour sack towel flats in them. We have covers from a few companies now, but I prefer the snaps on our Flips.

Infant sized prefolds also fit brilliantly into the Flip covers. I will use them whenever the little one has a rash so I can go with strictly organic cotton. The 4.0 are our go-to all around diaper, BUT we LOVE the Flip for everything else. It also works great as a swim diaper…

I LOVE my Flip. They are my go to diaper, especially when I know a poop is coming. I have pockets but I’m not a fan of a diaper that I can use only once and have to wash before using it again. It makes for lots of laundry. I’m a “diaper cover” kind of Momma.

You put the Kissaluvs into the Flip covers? Interesting. I might have to try that if we have another baby. I do admit. I didn’t like how fast the Flips filled up in the beginning, but I got a bum genius little extra insert to double up and I used that when we run errands. And now that she’s older it’s not necessary.
