Review: bumGenius Flannel Wipes and Bottom Spray
October 9, 2014 8:13 pm | by

When I was offered the opportunity to review bumGenius Flannel Wipes and Bottom Spray, I jumped at the chance. I’ve been using cloth wipes since I started cloth diapering just over 4 years ago. Some are even from the very beginning. With a baby and a two year old currently in cloth diapers, we’re always in need of methods to improve and streamline the diaper changing process.

The flannel wipes arrived and I first noticed how big and soft they are! They’re 8″ x 8″, or about the size of a baby washcloth. The Bottom Cleaner was very easy to spritz and smelled slightly citrusy, but the scent wasn’t overpowering. After a quick wash of the wipes, I put them into use.

For wet diapers, these wipes were lovely. I did a quick spritz with the Bottom Cleaner, wiped, and had no issues. The wipe covered my hand well and was very soft on my baby’s bum. I also tried it with a squirt of plain water directly onto the wipe, my usual method of wiping. The water beaded up on the flannel wipe, and didn’t absorb in very well. I much preferred using the Bottom Cleaner with these flannel wipes.

For dirty diapers, I’m a little torn. I liked that the flannel wipes were large and thick, so they had a lot of surface area and didn’t need to be folded before cleaning a dirty bum. However, they were SO soft that I felt they didn’t clean the bum quite as well as my other wipes. I needed to use a lot of the spray to clean the bum, and it was difficult to get into the crevices to ensure that my baby was completely clean

The wipes did come in handy in other arenas of our life, though. They were perfect for wiping the incessant runny noses and for a quick clean up after meals. I’m glad to have them as a part of our arsenal.
