Review: bumGenius Laundry Detergent
September 18, 2014 8:14 pm | by

BGDetergentPouch400x400I’m a working mama of 3 kids, and I’ll admit, I often don’t do things the “easy” way. I love to cook from scratch, I clean incessantly, and I research almost every product before making a purchase. So there are times I just need something to be simple. And using cloth diapers is simple! But with it comes a whole slew of techniques on how to clean them: spraying, swishing, soaking, sunning, etc. I don’t have time for all that! I do laundry seemingly around-the-clock as it is. I just want something that works the first time; something that I don’t even have to THINK about. (Laundry detergent is NOT something I have time to think about.)

BumGenius Laundry Detergent was specifically created to clean cloth diapers. It is made without any chemicals or additives that would otherwise damage the diapers or irritate baby’s skin. Good enough for me! Even better, it does not have any fragrance. (I don’t know about you, but I don’t need my laundry to smell like a mountain breeze, a spring blossom, an island, a lemon, or cotton candy or whatever other scents are “hot” right now. I digress.) Prior to using bumGenius detergent, my diapers would occasionally get an ammonia odor or a musty smell, and I’d have to re-wash them. But this leaves my diapers smelling completely clean and neutral. It doesn’t remove stains entirely, but to be honest, my son eats berries like they’re going out of style (blueberry poop will DEFINITELY leave a mark!), and stained diapers don’t really bother me too much anyway. Hanging them to dry in the sun will usually do the trick!

Personally, I also appreciate that it is made in the USA and that it’s in powder form, so it’s good for our economy and easier on the environment. Another small bonus is that the laundry scoop is the exact size needed for a load of diapers, which takes the guess-work out of the equation. It’s a little thing, but this is actually helpful . I don’t have to worry about using too much which would cause build-up, or too little which would lead to smelly diapers. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who uses cloth diapers!
