It was 5:00 am on Christmas morning. My husband was sleeping, blissfully unaware of the anxiety I was feeling as I laid awake next to him. I had just taken a pregnancy test and it was positive. No, this was not my first pregnancy test rodeo, but seeing that little blue line caused an old, familiar, mild panic to rise up in my body. Reality started sinking in; I was about to experience my fourth pregnancy. The evening before, Christmas Eve, is when 2 of my siblings joyously announced their pregnancies to our family. Which caused me to pause, re-count

Planning for #2 — We’d been trying for baby #2 for around a year or so now, and as soon as we found out that we were expecting, the “OH MY GOODNESS WE ARE HAVING ANOTHER BABY” mode kicked in. Since then, I’ve felt just about every emotion imaginable thanks to those ever-changing pregnancy hormones. It’s been almost four years since I had a baby, so I’m trying to take things slow, enjoy my time with my little guy and still prepare for our newest arrival! Here are a few things I’ve learned so far in planning for this second little

One of the best things about cloth diapers is that they are so simple to use! With cloth diapering, you really only need a handful of extra supplies and accessories to diaper your child from birth to potty-training! I’ll start with the essentials. In addition to a stash of roughly 20-24 cloth diapers, you will need reusable wipes (bumGenius Flannel Wipes have held up extremely well for me), a diaper pail or large wet-bag, and diaper-safe detergent. That’s it! That’s all you need for a no-frills, minimalist approach to cloth-diapering. My initial cloth-diaper stash took up just one basket,
Don’t get me wrong, you should ALWAYS get the mother of your children flowers on Mother’s Day. Since flowers don’t last forever, I tend to buy affordable ones from Trader Joe’s or a local Farmer’s Market. I avoid the mark-ups and delivery fees that come with going through a florist and am able to invest my savings into a thoughtful gifts that will last longer. Here’s a couple of ideas to fit any budget this Mother’s Day: Framed Kid Artwork What’s Mother’s Day without a homemade gift? Help extend the life of Junior’s artwork by displaying it a frame
Our baby and fur baby are almost exactly three years apart. Asher came along when Melvin (the pup) was just three and it’s been an adjustment since. Melvin was pretty good when it came to getting used to Asher being around, but I can tell he isn’t always interested in playing when Asher is eager to have some fun. On occasion he will entertain Asher, but Melvin is pretty laid back and would rather be napping on the couch or hiding out somewhere. Melvin is a smaller dog, a Shih-Tzu, and his demeanor is just easy. He’s a very well-behaved
I won’t lie, April Fools’ Day is one of my favorite days of the year! It has become an annual tradition for me to pull a prank on my husband and kids. Luckily, my kids love to be goofy and my husband is a good sport about it. Hey, traditions are important for every family, right? 🙂 April Fools’ Day is this week, so you still have time to trick the people you love most—your kids! Here are my favorite family-friendly pranks! Catch your little ones by surprise with one (or more!) of these fun ideas: Serve raw octopus for
Since I had my little guy, my morning routine has really simplified and the time it takes for me to get ready has significantly reduced. In 15 minutes or less, I’m ready to walk out the door. It’s not that I let myself go, I just have become a little more comfortable with just being myself … and more health conscious of what I’m putting on my face, body and hair. After having a little one and looking back, I often cringe on the money and time I wasted on harsh beauty products that didn’t do my body a bit of
