Did you read Jill’s wonderful and informative post earlier this week about the Potty Training Boot Camp method? Let me warn you, this post is nothing like that. We are, as I type, smack in the middle of attempting potty learning with Little Sir, our 2.5 year old son. This is a post, not from experience and hindsight, but from the trenches. I can’t tell you “how we did it” as much as “how we are attempting to do this”. May you learn from my ongoing mistakes! Let me set the stage for you. Little Sir is what some

At this point in my cloth diapering journey, I think that I can say that I’ve tried almost all the major categories of diapers: prefolds with covers, All-In-Ones, All-In-Twos, hybrids… but my favorite is definitely pockets! Almost my entire stash now consists of various pocket diapers. What is a pocket diaper?A pocket diaper is a diaper-shaped, waterproof shell sewn to a fabric inner. Poop. The one thing that stands between most people and cloth diapering. Poop is a formidable enemy. It stinks, it makes a mess, and it’s just plain gross. I’ve done quite a bit of traveling for business. Everywhere I go, I look for cloth diapers and how other cultures handle diaper care. Diaper care is an important issue in other parts of the world too, so I’m just as interested in what people put on their baby’s bottom as I am in how they take care of it after it’s dirty. In every bathroom, in every country, I notice the toilet design, what’s on the wall, whether or not there is toilet paper, how many years it might have been since the toilet was cleaned… (you get the
***Update***The wee wiggler finally filled her diaper this morning! I tried out the diaper spraying bottle idea with much enthusiasm! I’m not so sure how I feel about it. It wasn’t a raging success, that’s for sure. I really couldn’t get it to squirt with enough pressure to do a good job of cleaning off the mess. There was alot of brownish splatter left all over the toilet, yuck. I sure don’t want to have to scrub the toilet every time I change a dirty diaper. So, I’ll hang in there and try my idea a few more times…but it
