As I was preparing for my first airplane trip with my 2 littles, I consulted many of the moms and dads in the office for their best travel tips. Bekah, our product designer, offered one of the best stories I can’t believe I’ve never heard: the story of how Flip diapers came to be. I was lamenting that I planned to use disposables for a weeklong trip to Hawaii. For past vacations, we drove and had access to laundry. Since we are literally going to paradise, I am not going to spend time worrying about laundry. But, this is our

With a name like Oops, there must be a story! Did you know, the color “Oops” was purely chance? Fabric suppliers generate colors by code, but on one fateful run years ago, the code – we think for Blossom – was inverted. Just like that, Oops happened. Never wanting to waste, we decided to embrace the surprise. When we realized we didn’t have tabs that would match the PUL, our design team began proposing fun tab and snap combinations for our little Oops. We’d considered Grasshopper for one tab, Mirror for the other, with mixed up snaps, then someone pointed
My Intro to Cloth Diapers: Not Just Prefolds & Plastic Pants Anymore I have been around cloth diapers my entire life. As a child, my mother used cloth diapers on me. Can you picture it- prefolds and pins and plastic pants? I always wanted a big family, but diapers are so expensive! When I was a young adult, a friend was diapering her new baby and was using prefold diapers and diaper covers. This was a far cry from the plastic pants of my youth. Having no younger siblings, my only experience with diapers was with babysitting. All of the
We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families and friends! We are pleased to introduce you to our newest bumGenius and Flip diaper print: Wolfgang. Wolfgang Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a prolific composer whose work significantly shaped classical music. He created more than 600 works of music, including the twelve variations on the French folk song “Ah! vous dirai-ie, maman”, better known as the famous melody for the lullaby Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Jane Taylor, an English poet, wrote the oft uncredited lyrics to this children’s poem. Children sing those lyrics to a melody used in a

I’ve found that the longer I use cloth diapers, the more resistant I am to buying disposable diapers. Several weeks ago, my family had some traveling to do. First, we spent Labor Day weekend at my sister-in-law’s lake house. Then, we drove from the Midwest to Destin, Florida. I thought this would be a great time to use Flip disposable inserts full-time. Traveling with little ones can be daunting, but making plans in advance helped to keep things running smoothly. As much as I love my baby’s cloth diapers, I wanted to enjoy a carefree vacation and that didn’t involve
Cotton Babies started out as a baby retailer selling baby slings. Then, our owner, Jenn Labit, went on to make her own cloth diaper inserts. In 2005, she created bumGenius cloth diapers. Since then, we’ve expanded our brands and make lots of (we think) cool products that help make life easier for parents and eliminate waste. Cotton Babies products have a focus on baby, but many can be used by the entire family. Here’s a breakdown of our evergrowing product assortment, the majority of which are made in the USA! bumGenius bumGenius is where it all started. These cloth diapers are
Having a cloth diaper that fits properly is incredibly important — especially if you want to prevent leaks. But when it comes to cloth diaper fit, how do you really know what’s right? Every baby is different, and there are many different types of cloth diapers available so fit can often vary. With that being said, there are a few commonalities that will help you know you’ve got a good cloth diaper fit every time. To check the fit, first, pick up your baby’s legs after putting the diaper on and observe how it hugs their bottom. Is it snug?
