Just for Fun: Cotton Babies Daily Snap
April 30, 2012 8:23 pm | by

Are you are up to your elbows in dirty diapers? Is someone is always hungry? Can you go a single day without stepping on some sharp little toy with your bare feet? At my house, this can be extremely difficult. Some days it is hard to find the beauty in the ordinary moments of life. I’ve recently been inspired by a fun little photo meme started by Fat Mum Slim, an Australian blogger. The idea is simple, each day you take a photo inspired by a word or short phrase. It doesn’t have to be fancy, it just has to

Cloth Diapers and Mud

Cloth Diaper Creams

Now that spring has sprung (for most of us), it’s time to get outside and really enjoy the warmer weather. Unfortunately, spring often brings rain along with the warmer weather. And at least in my backyard, rain = mud. Some people don’t like letting their kids play in the mud- and it can be a little overwhelming, it terms of mess. But there are things we can do to make clean up easier on ourselves. For my older kids, who are (somewhat) less inclined to really roll in the mud, I usually just let them go as long as they

Just for Fun: April Fools’ Day
March 31, 2012 9:55 am | by

One of the things I love about having children is experiencing their sense of humor at different ages and stages. My sons have an amazing sense of humor. I frequently explain to people that my twin sons are much like the Two-Headed Monster on Sesame Street. They share a lot of inside jokes and once one gets a case of the giggles, the other joins in and they are nearly unstoppable. A couple of years ago, I took a risk and introduced my children to April Fools’ day. It was a big hit and has quickly become a beloved day

Tuesday Giveaway: It’s my Momiversary!
March 6, 2012 6:51 am | by

Today is my Momiversary. What’s that, you ask? Well, put simply, today is my oldest child’s birthday, therefore the day I became a mom. I know technically that you become a mom before birth, but I don’t know the exact day I conceived and I’m not a fan of math, so I make it easy on myself and call today my Momiversary. The truth is, even while pregnant, most of my life was the same. The really big changes came the moment he exited my body and entered the world. Nothing has been the same since. There’s just something special

What I Didn’t Know About Nursing
February 22, 2012 5:57 pm | by

Editor’s note: Today we bring to you two stories from real moms about nursing. We understand that each mother’s journey is different and at Cotton Babies we celebrate those differences. We encourage you to read both Jessica and Casey‘s stories. If you find one resonates with your personal experience, we ask you share some love with our guest bloggers by leaving them a note in the comments. ___ I always knew I wanted to breastfeed. I was happy to be able to do so successfully for 15 months. I didn’t read any books beforehand or take a class, so I

I Couldn’t Nurse

Editor’s note: Today we bring to you two stories from real moms about nursing. We understand that each mother’s journey is different and at Cotton Babies we celebrate those differences. We encourage you to read both Jessica and Casey‘s stories. Feeding Your Family
February 8, 2012 3:49 pm | by

Do you ever painstakingly make dinner and set it on the table, proud of your effort, only to have one (or more) of your kids look at the meal, look up at you, look back at the meal, back at you and then announce, “I don’t like [fill in hated food of the moment here]?” Or how about at the end of a busy day when you’re already daydreaming about putting pajamas on after the kids have gone to bed and one of your kids looks at you and says, “I’m hungry, what’s for dinner?” and you realize that you

Finding time for you
January 25, 2012 9:31 am | by

We have been thinking a lot this week about leisure time. With the introduction of the bumGenius Freetime, one of our goals was to give parents back those few extra minutes a week that you might spend stuffing your pocket diapers. It may not be a ton of time, but as you well know, every minute you can save from laundry or housework can be invested in your family or even yourself. Experienced moms will often shower new moms with the advice, “Don’t forget to make time for yourself!” I don’t know about you, but I struggled with how to

Tuesday Giveaway: Sweet Siblings
January 17, 2012 9:29 pm | by

When I first suspected I might be expecting my second child, it was about this time of year, which also happens to be near my husband’s birthday. I secretly purchased a pregnancy test and snuck it into the house. I carefully hid it so he would not discover it before it was time. I waited a few days to take the pregnancy test. As many of you know, waiting any amount of time to take a pregnancy test can be excruciating and seem ten times longer than it truly is. Those few days passed so slowly! The morning of his

Many of you have already taken advantage of our free book with purchase offer on www.cottonbabies.com We wanted to take a few minutes to share a little more about the book “You Can Be You and I Can Be Me – Our Differences Are Not A Mistake” with a brief question and answer session with author, Anni Shelton. Cotton Babies: What inspired you to write “You Can Be You and I Can Be Me – Our Differences Are Not a Mistake“? Anni Shelton: Two struggles actually. One was chronic, the other acute. This book addressed them both. The chronic struggle
