Real Mom Talk: Christmas Crafts
December 23, 2022 12:35 pm | by

My kids and I decided to make homemade Christmas ornaments using salt dough this year. We haven’t done this before, and I really wanted to start doing things that I’ll be able to keep and look at years from now. Are you wondering how to make great salt dough? All you’ll need is flour, salt, water, a rolling pin, and cookie cutters. Then, if you want to paint your ornaments (we did!), then you’ll also need some paint and paintbrushes. We also made our ornaments scented, although after painting them, they weren’t scented anymore but it was fun while rolling

Easter Basket Filler Ideas for Baby and Toddler

Easter is just a few short weeks away. It’s a time for celebration, and I am excited to curate an Easter basket for my toddler and baby. I love to plan out gifts rather than hitting up the pharmacy late on Saturday night before Easter grabbing whatever candy they might have left. Mostly, this is due to the fact that my toddler has become a candy monster and I am doing my best to direct her attention to other things. Baby Easter Basket Ideas My little guy will soon be turning 1! At this point, he likes putting everything in

How to Make Super Easy Salt Dough Ornaments

Super Easy Salt Dough Ornaments

Inspiration for Super Easy Salt Dough Ornaments Some of the most memorable ornaments on our family Christmas Tree from when I was growing up are the salt dough ornaments my mom made with one of her friends before I was born. She always said they were super easy to make. I’ve always thought about making them myself and this year I decided to go for it. After all, hers have certainly lasted the test of time… 38ish years later (pictured here on white Christmas tree). I was slightly intimidated about making these myself. My sugar cookie attempts have never seemed

Shop Small Business Saturday

Shopping for a newborn or infant can be fun — whether you’re shopping for your own little one or another beloved baby in your life. But, it can also be a bit tricky! They’re not old enough to have specific interests like sports, characters, or even colors. And, if they have older siblings, they will inherit lots of hand-me-down toys, clothes, and more. You want to get them something fun or practical that they’ll use throughout their childhood, so here is a list of ideas to get you started! Start baby’s book collection. Baby will do little more than chew

Environmentally-Friendly Alternatives to Gift Wrap
November 30, 2017 3:10 pm | by

A designer by trade, I’ve always appreciated things presented in a stylish and unique way. Wrapping presents at Christmas is my favorite because there are so many ways to get creative, but at the end of the day, it’s shocking how much garbage the holiday produces. Paper Grocery Bag for Chic Gift Wrap A few years ago, as an effort to produce less paper waste (and save some coin), I started using brown paper grocery bags to do all my wrapping. I’ll use some upcycled yarn, twine, ribbon, or washi tape to brighten it up so it doesn’t just look

Top 20 Non-Candy Halloween Treats
October 4, 2017 1:12 pm | by

Halloween usually translates into sugar overload. My daughter’s school has an annual Trunk or Treat. Rather than hand out more candy, I opt to give out pretzels. They’re still not healthy, but they’re slightly better off in my mind. Here’s a list of non-candy Halloween treats. My daughter has received most of these, and we were all pretty happy with them! The List Bubbles – Always a hit Stickers – Find some fun Halloween stickers Pencils – Great for older kids, too Crayons or Markers – We could always use more Fruit snacks/fruit leather/raisins – Healthier option, but still sweet Animal
