Real Mom Talk: Homemade Orange Berry Yogurt Popsicles
June 23, 2014 7:44 pm | by

Homemade popsicles are on of my favorite things to make during the warm summer months. They are perfect for cooling off, yummy to eat, and a great way to get fruits and veggies into your littles one’s diet. We are avid homemade popsicle eaters around here, and today, I’m sharing our latest frozen popsicle recipe that we like to call Orange Berry Yogurt Pops. These pops are a great source of vitamins and antioxidants. You can find popsicle molds at almost any grocery store and online.  Ingredients: (This recipe makes about 6-8 popsicles)  1/2 c. Fresh or frozen blueberries 6 Whole

Real Mom Talk: Fun Family Activites
June 3, 2014 5:50 am | by

We recently went on a family outing and I spent so much energy, money and time planning this special event.  My expectations were so high of how much the kids would love it, but the reality was the trip was filled with a lot of drama. From getting everything organized and packed and all the kids dressed, by the time we got there, my husband and I were so exhausted.  It was a bummer trip.  On our way home we decided to stop at Starbucks and a local hair salon because my husband wanted a quick haircut.  I sat outside on

April 1, 2014 7:27 pm | by

Hopefully it’s starting to warm up a little bit wherever you are! Spring is finally here in most parts of the U.S. and winter is sticking around a little longer in others. I’m sure everyone is looking forward to the beautiful weather to get outside and have some fun! Here are a few fun ideas for spring: Visit a local park. You can have a lot of fun at the park around the corner! My husband and I each have a bike with baby seats on the back so we enjoy going on the bike trails with our kids. If

Real Mom Talk: Swimming with Cloth Diapers
July 30, 2013 11:12 am | by

If you’re anything like us, you might live near the pool, splash park, or sprinklers! As a cloth diapering mama, the thought of having to switch to disposables just for swim diapers grated against my conscience. But never fear, you don’t have to change your reusable diapering habits just because the weather is warm and you want your baby to stay cool in the pool! Here are my two favorite ways to cloth diaper for swimming season.  Cloth swim diapers. The Imse Vimse brand cloth swim diaper is not only reliable, but also comes with the option of buying a

Real Mom Talk: Celebrate Summer
July 9, 2013 9:03 am | by

Summer: the word evokes memories of long hot days filled with sprinklers, bike rides, day camp, and ice cream cones. And although the season may be reduced to mere nostalgia for us grown-ups, that doesn’t mean it has to lose its magic for the kiddos! Beat boredom with some of the activities below, before the lazy days of summer pass by! Take advantage of what your community has to offer. Many smaller municipalities offer summer concerts, movies in the park, kid’s fishing derbies, and other family-friendly events for the community. Check your town’s website or newspaper for a calendar of

Prepping Cloth Diapers

Spring is here and that means one thing – it’s time to freshen your cloth diapers with a little sun. Has your little one been trying new foods this winter and spring?  Blueberries and other foods can often leave a mark on your cloth diapers.  In winter, it can be difficult to remove stains inside your cloth diapers.  Sunning cloth diapers not only removes stains, but is a natural way to sanitize your laundry.  With spring upon us and more sunshine in most of our forecasts, now is the perfect time for your cloth diapers to catch some rays. To

Gardening With Toddlers
April 3, 2013 4:36 pm | by

It’s already warmed up enough here to start re-planting our garden. It wasn’t much of a success last year, but that doesn’t stop us from trying again! It’s been really fun to get outside with my kids now that they are both mobile toddlers who don’t need help walking. Their favorite activity when we’re outside is to watch what I’m doing and “help”. Fortunately, gardening is something that toddlers or preschoolers can participate in and even learn a little! Here’s how they helped me plant our garden and flowers: SeedsThe kids had a lot of fun looking at seed packets

Tuesday Giveaway: Final moments of free time
August 7, 2012 5:19 pm | by

Summer solstice has passed, the olympics are drawing to a close, the school busses are running their practice routes and the sun is setting just a bit earlier each evening. I’m trying to squeeze every last second of free time out of my summer because I know it won’t be long until the community changes, pools close and everyone’s thoughts turn back to fall and the regular routine, whether you have school age children or not. Funny how that works each year. For those of us in St. Louis and many of you elsewhere, it has been a long hot
