Prepping Cloth Diapers

It’s January, and if you’re like me, you’re dreaming of summer and the idea of a three-week beach vacation.  But if you live in the real world, the mere thought of an exotic beach vacation has to be scaled back into a small weekend getaway with your kids. When it comes to traveling with children who wear cloth diapers, it’s really just as easy as traveling with children who don’t.  Only it takes a bit more planning and packing. Here are a few tips to help you take your cloth diapers on the road: 1. ALWAYS bring a bumGenius wet bag or

When Mom’s Away
August 15, 2012 1:40 pm | by

So this week I will leave behind my baby and big kid with my big husband and flew away to New York City for five glorious and exhausting days. However, I’m convinced that the five days leading up to leaving may be more exhausting than the five days I actually spend in New York. (That city makes me SO TIRED.) My husband works full time and I know he doesn’t have time to cook, clean, organize and run the house the way I do, not because he’s incapable, but because he’s gone 9 hours a day and doesn’t witness how

Thursday Giveaway: Take a vacation with Flip!
July 5, 2012 3:11 pm | by

Every parent needs a good vacation every now and then. However, your idea of vacation and mine may differ greatly. Honestly, it’s a good day of vacation when I don’t have to cook, wash dishes or laundry and I can lounge around reading a good book for as long as I like. I’m a simple girl, with simple wishes. With a family of six, days where I don’t have to do a single chore are pretty much only in my dreams. That’s one reason why I love the Flip diapering system. The three different styles of inserts cover just about

Family Camping
June 27, 2012 2:23 pm | by

This week is National Camping Week and to celebrate, our family went camping last weekend for the first time since we’ve become parents. I love being outdoors and since my husband and I both work in tech-related fields, it’s very difficult for us to completely disconnect and take a break as long as there is cell service available. There’s nothing quite like going deep into the woods to render your smartphone useless. At first, our kids seemed to be annoyed at the amount of effort required to do anything, especially the hike to the outhouse. There was a great deal

Cloth 201: Traveling? Don’t forget the dirty diapers!
May 14, 2012 2:47 pm | by

A few weeks ago, our car started smelling really weird. At first, I ignored it because really, when does a car carrying two toddlers smell GOOD? But eventually we broke down and did a full-car clean out. What did we find in the back hatch area of our car? A slightly wet cloth diaper! Fortunately, it was only wet and not solid waste. Can you imagine if had been poop? I can guarantee that we would have found it sooner! Keeping up with diapers and wet bags is just another mom duty that comes along with cloth diapering. Even the

Reusable Swim Diapers
April 20, 2012 12:22 pm | by

Back when Vicki was 6 months old, I started taking her to swimming lessons. I prepared weeks in advance by registering her for swimming, buying her a bathing suit, and purchasing a reusable swim diaper. I was good to go. Everything went swimmingly (pun intended) for a few months, and we greatly enjoyed our weekly swim. Then it got cold and I dropped the ball and forgot to register for the winter session. By the time we went back to swimming, Vicki needed a new bathing suitand she had grown out of her swim diaper. As I was pressed for
