The Music of Mozart
April 18, 2017 12:25 pm | by

The music of Mozart, melodies from a man who lived centuries ago, continues to sing to generations. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (his whole name is quite the mouth-full!) was born in Salzburg, Austria and baptized as Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart. He was the youngest of seven children, five of which sadly died as babies.

Music & Mozart

Music was always a part of Mozart’s life. By the age of five, not only could he play the keyboard and violin, but composed music too! His work is the definition of the Classical era; he composed symphonies, concertos, operas, and is known to have penned more than 600 works.

In Oliver Wendell Holmes’s 1858 poem The Voiceless he says:

“Alas for those that never sing, But die with all their music in them!”

Mozart was a genius because he left a legacy of work that has stood the test of time. The music of Mozart expresses every range of emotion from playful and sweet Minuet in G to the deeply thoughtful Requiem in D. He was a man dedicated to seeing his passion come to life.

Mozart, our Genius Series Print

Mozart was added to our Genius Series in August 2016. Featured on bumGenius and Flip cloth diapers. This playful print features selections from his work, including the twelve variations on the French folk song “Ah! vous dirai-ie, maman” better known as the famous lullaby Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.
