By now, you probably already know it’s Real Diaper Week and that we’ve been advocating and educating families about the benefits of cloth diapers.
We want to encourage more people to use or try real diapers, and we think it would be easier if families starting out with cloth during their baby’s first few days of life.
For this week’s giveaway, two people will win a bumGenius Newborn Cloth Diaper or an Econobum Newborn Cloth Diaper. Whether you’re planning for a baby, expecting, or need the perfect shower gift, bumGenius and Econobum Newborn Cloth Diapers are a helpful way to get anyone started with cloth.
The Econobum Newborn Cloth Diaper is designed for families who want to want to cloth diaper on a budget right off the bat. It fits most babies from 6-12 pounds and is designed to fit low, below the navel, to keep the umbilical area dry. This diaper is ideal for that itty-bitty newborn stage.
To enter this week’s giveaway, tell us when you started using cloth diapers on your baby.
Eligible entries must be posted no later than midnight Eastern time, Wednesday, April 30, 2014. U.S. residents only. Void where prohibited by law. No purchase necessary to win. Winners will be drawn after the close of the contest and notified via email. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. With my daughter I started with our one size diapers around 3 months because I didn’t know about special newborn sized diapers. Later this year baby #2 will be 100% cloth from the day he or she is born.
Around a few weeks old.
I haven’t started using cloth diapers, but I have a small stash for my daughter who will be here next month. I wish I would have tried them on my son when he was in diapers.
I haven’t started yet but my little one arrives within the next 3 weeks and I will start right away with her.
I’m converting to cloth diapers currenntly, so I haven’t started YET. I am building my stash!
May/June of last year.
I don’t have any kids yet, but I cloth diapered two siblings (one at 20 months and the other from 3+).
With my first, when she was 5 1/2 months, but with baby #2, hopefully sooner.
We started using cloth when my son was two weeks old.
We started at 4 weeks with the BumGenius newborn diaper 🙂
we started using cloth on our LO when she was 3 mo old. i didn’t know anything about “new” cloth, i thought it was old school of pins and plastic pants and i wasn’t going to do that! but i wish i would have known and started earlier. now we are trying for #2 and will be doing cloth right from the beginning.
My twins could really use some diapers!
Baby is due in July, I plan on starting at birth!!
We were planning on starting with our first child but unfortunately I never got around to using them with her. After I saw how simple it looked from some friends who used them I decided to start from the beginning with the next baby. Due in Sept.!
I started using cloth when my second child was almost a year old. He developed a horrible reaction to disposables and it opened my eyes to the benefits of cloth. I’m excited to start from day 1 with my third baby, due in September. This would be a great addition to our stash!
I haven’t started yet but plan on cloth from day one.
i started with my son at 3mos!
second week with my first. and third day with my second!
When she was ten days old (once her umbilical cord stump fell off).
My first was about 4-5 months old. Baby 2 due any day now will be cloth diapered right from birth!
I started when my now 3 y/o was 9 months, and am still going on my 11 week old daughter.
With other little ones (I was a nanny) I would cloth diaper if that’s what the parents had chosen-I fell in love and am planning to start right away with my own.
I plan to start using cloth after he grows out of newborn diapers
We started cloth diapering our little one in the first few days after birth. As soon as meconium stopped she was in cloth. She is three weeks old, still in cloth and she will be until she’s potty trained. We love cloth despite the naysayers!
I started with my first child when he was about a month old. With my second child I started right away!
I started clothing diapering my little one at 2 weeks old
When he was almost 3 months old. Starting from day one with this new baby!
We have one baby and started cloth diapering when he was 3 weeks old.
I started when my son was 10 months old
I started when our first was born in October 2011…still going strong now with our 8 month old son, with plans to use them on future children!!!
I will start once my LO is born
I tried to start shortly after birth, but once returning to work stopped, started full time at 13 months. Hoping to use same diapers on more kiddos
Started using them on my son when he was 3 months old!
I haven’t started yet, but I’m thinking within the first couple weeks!
I started using cloth when I had two in diapers and I was disgusted by the big bags of used diapers we were adding to the trash every couple of days. So much waste!
i started at 4 months
We started cloth diapering when my daughter was about five months old! I was so excited to try them once I found out that they weren’t just prefolds and pins 🙂
We started part-time cloth diapering when my daughter was born and transitioned to full-time when she was about two weeks old.
At 4mos with my 1st and 1mo with my 2nd.
We started using cloth diapers at about 3 weeks when smaller OS diapers started fitting.
Baby Girl is due in August. She will be my first babe in cloth! can’t wait to meet her and get started 🙂
We used cloth on my daughter starting as a newborn, and would love to try a few other newborn options for our new baby due in the beginning of July!
I started using cloth when my son was 4 months old.. I wish I would have known more about them sooner.
I did some cloth diapering from birth, but really got into it when baby fit in the one size diapers.
I started using cloth when my daughter was around 7 months. This is the first time I’ve done it out of 4 kids and I love it!
We started when our daughter was released from the NICU at three weeks old, but we bought diapers and covers for her when I was twelve weeks pregnant!
We started when our first was 1 yr old, almost 10 years ago. Our next 3 kids went back and forth between disposables and cloth in the newborn stage, and then full cloth. We plan on having #5 full time in cloth as soon as he is born, and didn’t even buy any disposables, so we won’t be tempted.
TTC but want to cloth diaper from the start! 😉
I started when my now 7 month old was about 10 pounds. She was 6 pounds at birth so it took us awhile to get there. I probably used her weight as an excuse not to get going with cloth diapering because I was so scared to start! I thought I’d ruin the diapers with improper washing. We have hard water and I needed to find a solution to that issue before I was comfortable beginning our cloth diaper journey. Many thanks to the various cloth diaper support FB pages out there! I now feel like I am a pro and LOVE our BunGenius, Flips, Hemp Babies and prefolds!! I will definitely start to cloth diaper much earlier with newborn sizes for our next baby!
We started cloth diapering at 6 weeks at about 10lbs 🙂
from birth
Jan 2007 – the day my first child was born. We were 100% cloth from the beginning – unassisted home birth, so no hospital sposies, and we certainly couldn’t afford to buy any.
My daughter was about 3 weeks when we started using cloth.
We started using cloth when I was out of work for a few months because I had developed life threatening blood clots and had to had two surgeries to remove them. Because I had just started a new job I had no paid time to use. My husband had suggested cloth before so we have it a shot. We are now 3 yrs and one more little later and still using cloth. So glad we made the switch.
We started at 7w with my first, and my second has never had a disposable on her 🙂
We started after my son was 1 week.
I started when my daughter was 1 1/2 and used cloth with my son from about two months old and he’s still in cloth. You may use these HTML tags and attributes:
I actually started using cloth diapers around 18 months because my husband was so opposed to them for so long. But I love them and hope to start the next kid at birth!
I was late to jump on the bandwagon with my Daughter but used Cloth for potty training, cant wait to start cloth with my little guy due next month
I spent way too much on diapers having my first daughter. This time around Im going to try cloth. I have a small stash so far and my daughter will be here in July. This has been so helpful educating me on how to use cloth diapers. Can’t wait to try it
I started using cloth diapers on my first daughter over 6 years ago. My very first cloth diaper order was from Cotton Babies!
My daughter was born premature, so we started using our cloth diapers as soon as she fit into the OS pockets I had…. I think she was about 1 month old.
Today was my son’s first day in cloth diapers. Both him (21 months old) and my daugther (who just turned 4 and is potty trained) were in disposables until today. I still wonder why it took me so long… I wish I would have seen someone use cloth to understand how it works.
We started cloth diapering because of two little words: diaper rash. Now we wouldn’t go back to disposables for all the butt paste in the world.
I used disposables with my first 2. They smelled and we’re ridiculously expensive. I plan on starting cloth with baby #3 due in November as soon as we get home from the hospital.
We started our cloth diaper journey at 2 weeks old and love them 🙂
We started cloth diapering our first when he was 2 days old in the NiCU. With our younger two, a cloth diaper was the only diaper they have ever worn
I didn’t start until really late with our first one and we are now saving up to cloth diaper with our second.
We started at 4 weeks, but still used disposables at night until I found the right one at 2 months.
We started using cloth when our daughter was about 7 months old. Who knew it would not be as hard or gross as we thought. I would never look back now. It has saved so much money.
We actually able to start cloth diapering from birth! We had planned on waiting at least until we got home, but our hospital in Seattle gave us the option. They had tiny prefolds and used tape for the sides haha! It wasn’t a good option for long term, but the first day our little guy didn’t really pee or poo much so it was fine 🙂
I started using cloth on my baby girl at 2 weeks old! We knew we wanted to do it from the start and just couldn’t wait to put it on her bum!
I started when my first baby was 1 month old.:) Now I have 2 in cloth.
I started using cloth diapers on my son when he was 2 months old. My mom and friends had bought me some disposable diapers, and I used those up. I had had a difficult delivery with him, so we bought 1 pack of disposables with our own money… WOW! Those things are expensive. Thank goodness we already had a cloth diaper stash(I made the choice to cloth diaper him before he was born). Never again!
he was 2 months old. wanted to start sooner but he was born tiny and i didn’t have cloth newborn diapers. this round i bought some cloth that are smaller to start.
Love
I started using cloth with my second when my son was about 10 weeks old. He was born at 5 pounds so it took a while for then to fit. I had a few different brands at first but my friend gave me a 4.0 at my shower and I fell in love!
Day 4 🙂
We started cloth diapering with our first born way back in 2002 from birth, and have cloth diapered all 5 of our kids!
With my first we started at 10 months and with my second we started from when we got home from the hospital. We will do the same with #3 when he/she arrives in november!
We started as soon as our little man’s umbilical stump fell off. That was around 2 weeks old.
Our little man isn’t due until August, but I’m hoping we can start cloth diapering from the beginning!
We knew we wanted to cloth diaper full time since before our first baby was born, but we got TONS of disposables at our baby showers and used those until our son was about 2-3 months old. Then we started cloth full-time! Next baby will be in cloth from the beginning (after we get home from the hospital!)… especially with these new NB Econobum covers! <3
Started day 2 when we got home from hospital Thanks to tons of encouragement and support from a couple of cd -ING mom friends!
I plan on starting with baby number 2 as soon as the umbilical cord falls off
We started cloth diapering at about 3 weeks, once she started fitting into OS diapers. Next time around I would love to start with some newborn sized diapers!
We started about 2 months after we brought him home from the NICU for about a month and a half and loved it . Then we had to stop for 2 months because his therapist said they were bad for his hips. I got so sick of disposable diapers and started to using cloth diapers again. He seems to be able to move his hips just fine in cloth diapers. I learned that sometimes you just have to step up and know that you are mom and you know your child best. The therapist only sees him for a small amount of time compared to me.
I started cloth diapering my second child when she was 14 months old. I can’t wait to start right away with baby three!
I started in 2008 when my first daughter was born and have a great stash for daughter #2 who is probably soon moving to potty training!
Started with our first right away! We decided to cloth diaper when I was about 6 months pregnant and built up our stash before baby came. My husband and I figured that if we never used a disposable, we’d never know what we were missing, and we’re more than thrilled with our choice!
We will start when our baby gets here in June!
I didn’t start cloth diapering my first son until he was about 18 months old. And even then I started out really slow with a tiny stash and just using them part time. By the time I had my second I had a much larger stash. I used only a few newborn diapers here and there, and started more consistently around 5 weeks old.
100% cloth? Age 14 months. Flip covers with disposable inserts? Age 8 months. Next baby? From day 1! 🙂
I started when my first born was 2 weeks old early September 2008 and am still going strong with my third who is almost 18 months and they will be used again for our fourth due early August!
Started cloth diapering my 2nd child at a few weeks old since the all in ones didn’t fit. Will cloth diaper my baby due in June from birth, so I could use another newborn diaper.
We started when we brought our first born home from the hospital 16 years ago.
I first started using cloth when my son was about 3-4 months, once we used up all the diapers we got in my baby shower
I started using cloth diapers on both my kids around 3-4 weeks. We didn’t have access to any newborn cloth diapers so we waited until they were large enough to fit in the all-in-ones we had. After that we never looked back. :o)
We started cloth diapers once our little one reached 9 pounds. Our disposable to cloth diaper transition worked beautifully, and we almost wish we had made the change sooner! We love it so much! 🙂
Hoping to start cloth diapering from Day 1! 5 more weeks to go!
I started cloth diapering when DS was 5 months old. He is almost 18 months.
I started using them two weeks after the little one was born!
We started around 2 months. Had done A TON of research and then bought mostly all used to try it out. We quickly realized after using disposables for the first 2 months how MUCH money we save using cloth! We have another little one come in Aug, so a newborn diaper would be perfect for us!
My baby isn’t due until
sept. Haven’t decided when to start.
With my first, I started using one-size cloth diapers on her at 10 weeks old. With my second, we started as soon as she fit in newborn covers, which was at about 4.5 weeks!
We started cloth diapering as soon as we got home from the hospital. We tried from day one, but couldn’t get the fit right while in the hospital. Our error, of course, but it was less-daunting at home!
I started as soon as his umbilical cord fell off.
When he was two months old.
I Started Day 5
WhenMy Daughter Came HomeFromThe Goforth
We didn’t start using cloth diapers until my son was about three months old! I really had no idea modern cloth diapers had existed before that!
I have been using cloth for 7 months. We actually started on my son’s first birthday. It’s been fantastic I wish we would have started sooner
When he was one month old. Would love some newborn diapers so that we can start sooner when baby #2 arrives in December!
I started using cloth on my LO as soon as the cord fell off. There were just too many horror stories online about cloth diapers pulling the cord out….
PS. It’s a bit silly to ask us when we started using cloth at a giveaway for newborn diapers 😛 You already know our babies would be out of newborn sizes! I guess it’d be great to gift a pregnant friend…. I know just the person!
When my LO fit into her os econobum covers. About 2 months.
I have s six week old and plan to start once she fits into the OS diapers I bought. I had no idea there were econobum newborns! Good to know!
I started cloth diapering my now 5 year old when he was about 6 weeks old. We love our cloth!
When she was about 3 months old. She was too small for the ones we had bought prior to her birth, so she had to use disposables for awhile until she got up to weight.
Now, she’s 16 months and about to size out of one type of cloth that we have!
We started using cloth when they fit, around 2.5-3 month. My mom and grandma bought me a pack of one size free times, and they were huge! We brought my daughter home weighing about 4 lbs 11 oz, so we just did disposables until then. Would love to start my newborn stash for baby umber two!
We started when he was 3 months old.
I started when my first baby was a week old. 2.5 years ago!
I started using cloth when my daughter was about 4 months old. Looking forward to using them on my next little one coming in November!
My firstborn daughter was the experiment. We started with ‘sposies & didn’t move to cloth with her until she was about 15 months old. My son, however, was in cloth after about a week 🙂
6 weeks and about 8 lbs
We started at 3 months but would give anything to go back in time and start sooner! We love our real diapers!
We wanted to start from day 1, but all of our diapers were too big for our little miss – even the newborn ones! We started around 3 weeks.
We started at about 2.5 weeks. As new parents, we were overwhelmed with our laundry, let alone diapers. I started trying 2 or 3 a day… Almost gave up because the dipes I was using smelled horrible with a small amount of wetness and gave baby rash. I had done econobum prefolds and figured I’d give them a try before giving up. Thank goodness I bought a variety on eBay! Totally saved my budget!
I started cloth with my first at 4 months & my second (still in newborns!) at 4 days.
I started using cloth diapers on my now 2 year old son at 1 month. I plan to start earlier with my baby boy due this summer!
I started using cloth diapers with my 4.5 month old just a couple weeks ago. I am loving them so far and can not wait to try them all! I would love to win the newborn diaper to gift it to my friend who is expecting so she can see just how easy it is to cloth diaper.
I started at 3weeks with my two children and plan to use only cloth whenever we get blessed with #3
We started using cloth with our first child 5 years ago. We are currently cloth diapering our third child. We chose cloth because it was financially affordable, it was the only way that I could afford to stay home. Today, we could afford to buy disposables, but we have fallen in love with cloth!! Read more about why we started cloth diapering here: http://www.raisinglittletreasures.com/diaper-stash-tells-story/
2 months
I can’t wait to cd my little one due in June!
I started when my son was 3 1/2 months old. I could have started sooner if I wasn’t so intimidated!!! It was much easier then I expected!
I started cloth diapering about 3 weeks ago. On my 2 month old.
We didn’t start until my first son was 6 months, but we’ll start from birth with this second baby.
We started using cloth when our 5th baby was 10 months old. I really wish we had started sooner!
After the cord fell off!
Full time at 1 week when the stump fell off. We tried a couple before then but we had only bumgenius newborn and they don”t fold down very well. They were rubbing.
I haven’t started using cloth yet, as my baby isn’t due until September, but I’m super excited about it.
We unfortunately didn’t start cloth until my son was 15 months old. I started researching when he was 14 months. My husband and I are so happy we made the switch and will be cding our newborn in August!
We started using cloth on our first at about 6 months with or second right away and when our third gets here we will use cloth all the way through.
I started when my daughter was 3 weeks old!! She will be two in July and we still love them!! We are expecting our second in August and I’d love to try one of the newborn cloth diapers for her!!
I’ve tried the BG newborn diapers and really love them! I would love to win one to add to my stash!
Oops…forgot to add that I starting using cloth diapers when my little one was 2 weeks old! 🙂
from the moment he was born! it was actually very special . . . we were planning on a natural childbirth and he was an emergency c-section and needed to spend some time with the pediatrician on-call. when the doc handed him back to me, he was wearing a tiny washcloth secured with medical tape. the ped said “I know that cloth was important to you — I wanted at least part of your birth to go the way you hoped!” my guy is now 16 months old and has been in cloth ever since.
The first time I used cloth was with my second. He was 3 months old. Started with cloth on my 3rd at about 1 month. Due with #4 this summer and plan to do cloth from day one this time.
About 2 months in with first child
@ 9 weeks!
as soon as I could! trying to win this for my cousin who is due in june!
We started at 6 months with our son. (Just in time to start solids) We are expecting our second child and have started a newborn stash so we can start as soon as possible. We love cloth diapering!
We began cloth diapering at 3-4 weeks old. I agree, having an affordable SIMPLE newborn option would have made it easy to start cloth diapering earlier!
We started using cloth on our twins at 3 months(after all the free diapers everyone gave us ran out). I originally thought it would be too hard to do with twins, but I couldn’t imagine the expense of disposables. We love our cloth!
We started with cloth at about three months and we gradually went to full time.
I bought my first flip diapers when I was pregnant with my first child four years ago. I’ve added some to my stash since I had two in cloth for about three months but I love that they’ve been a part of my life for so long.
I started using cloth on my son when he was 8 months old — we bought 18 BG 4.0s.
Started a few days after birth- once the cord fell off
We started using cloth diapers at 1 week old!
A little less than two weeks old.
With my first two I started when my boys were about 6m and 1 1/2. With #3 we’re starting as soon as he’s born!
I started once we moved and I found the diapers again lol. DD was 5 months old. Wish I woulda started sooner!
We started as soon as she was 8 lbs and the bumgenius stash we had chosen fit her!
I started with cloth when my son was about 6 weeks old. We didn’t have any to use before then and he had surprised us by arriving early!
3 weeks
7 weeks.. around 10 lbs
We started after the disposables from the hospital were used up
As soon as we grew out of newborn diapers. Next baby will be from birth.
We started around 2 weeks ago! He will be three weeks old soon!
I started at 6 weeks old
