Life may be a mystery, but cloth diapers certainly aren’t! In fact, cloth diapers are very straight forward and just as easy to use as disposables.
When it comes to finding the right cloth diapers for your family, that, however, can be a bit of a mystery since there are so many choices available. But hey, who doesn’t love a good mystery anyway? The fun thing about cloth diapers is that you can try different systems like bumGenius, Flip or Econobum to find the solution that works for YOU.
We want more people to solve their cloth diapers mystery, and find something that suits their needs. But, this week’s giveaway is a mystery. I solved night time diapering by using prefolds and a cover.
We went through soooo many different diapers until we finally found 4.0s and they are the only ones that work on my son. No red marks, no leaking. I am in love with them and they make up our entire stash!
fitteds are our favorite! especially for overnights.,hands down. took 2 years to figure out lol
I started using only pockets and AIOs with my first baby, but now with my second baby I’ve discovered prefolds and covers. (I love my Flips!)
We actually use 3 different ‘systems’ depending on the situation… I really like All-In-Two systems like Flip (but I prefer some other that have snap-in inserts) for daytime use at home, easy to use, easy to laundry, easy to put away. Pockets are great for the diaper bag since they are the easiest for other caregivers to use (in my opinion a pre-stuffed pocket is far less confusing than an AIO with flaps or extra material) and I can adjust what/how much I stuff them with as my LO grows. And then we use fitted diapers with covers for overnight (we were able to use pockets or Elementals for awhile, but now LO rolls around so much / side sleeps that nothing but a fitted seems to work).
We love 4.0s and flips on my baby girl. Wish I would’ve cloth diapered my son.
I found I like BG pockets stuffed with a Thirsties hemp insert and a pad folded flat. It solved the mystery of why my heavy wetters diaper leaks.
Ive never cloth diapered but I definitely want to start! From researching Ive found pocket diapers are easiest.
I primarily use Freetimes, but I’m also starting to love Flips with fst’s. I’m amazed that they actually work!
So I really hate thick cloth diapers. Trim diapers are really a huge factor to me. So a high quality hemp is so important to me so that it is trim but doesn’t compromise absorbency.
I was using the older style of Elementals, and now going back to the basics with Flips with flats and prefolds. I still love my elementals though.
Our mystery was solved by changing to natural fibers in our pockets!
Baby Z isn’t here yet, but I loved reading all of the tips!
for going our I love trim AIOs and staying home I like flats and covers.
I live fitted with wool for nighttime
I like pockets because they’re stay dry , easy to use and I can add more absorbancy if needed.
I have found natural fibers and AI2 systems to be my mystery combination!
I like prefolds and a cover. I’m liking Flips and Econobum covers
My favorite “system” is a cover and a padfolded flat diaper, it’s simple and washes easily, dries quickly and is absorbent.
Right now we’re just using Alva Baby covers and Prefolds. We’d like to upgrade our stash! 🙂
We used all 4.0’s on our first and plan on doing the same come January with our second! I had a friend recommend them to me, and we got lucky with a routine that worked straight away! Keeping with one type and style has made it easier on my husband and extended family to be on board with cloth diapers as well, now they all know how easy it is!
no real mysteries, but I definitely enjoy my bum genius free times and flip covers with prefolds
We love our 4.0s and flips!!!
We solved our CD mystery with many different mini stashes — BG 4.0s, Sunbaby, and Kawaii pockets stuffed with flats for day care; Flips, Econombum, and other covers with trifolded prefolds for home; Kawaii Good Night Heavy Wetters pockets stuffed with Flip overnight prefolds and Hemp Babies Little Weeds doublers for overnight. These mini-stashes are still at work on baby #2. 🙂
I like pocket diapers for nights and long outings and prefolds and covers the rest of the time. Prefolds are the easiest laundry, but I like the stay-dry feel of pocket diapers for long stretches.
I’ve tried a lot of diapers and still trying more! My favorites so far are Smart Bottoms and covers with Bamboo flats. 🙂 Overnights we like Babykicks Joeybunz for our heavy wetter.
FLIPS with a prefold is my favorite cloth diaper solution.
I solved the mystery of how to cloth diaper on a budget with my bum genius 4.0s I just need to build up my stash 🙂
Hemp was the key to the mystery of overnight leaks!
The question is kind of confusing but anywaY. I was able to solve my stink problem by switching from microfiber to more natural diaper materials like cotton flats!
I don’t have a system figured out yet. I am trying to get a few different things to try out when my baby is born.
I’d love to win, I haven’t been brave enough to try anything other than 4.0s!
I love a number of differing cloth diapering options. OBGEs are at the top of my list. I own quite an eclectic fluff stash.
i just mailed an assortment of NB diapers to a friend to help her find the type she likes. for mine it is fitted with cover when NB. pockets later and wool at night
I solved my cloth diaper mystery by ordering a few different types and settling on a natural fiber inner and hemp insert system 🙂
I love the grovia system. So many options
We love prefolds or flats folded in covers. Easy, quick and it works!
I’ve tried many types of diapers, my favorite systems are freetimes and wahm hybrid fitted.
Our favorite system is the elementals and hybrid fitteds
I use flats and covers. Some of my favorite covers are flips, econobums and imagine baby.
When I originally started cloth diapering within the first week my daughters diaper area turned bright red! I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong and it looked so painful I almost gave up cloth diapering all together. I did a lot of research and finally discovered that washing cloth diapers in an HE washing machine is significantly different than how you was them in older versions. I stripped my diapers, allowed her bottom to heal and state over and it’s been all roses and sparkles ever since! I love my BumGenius brand!
My cloth diaper mystery was actually finding the right detergent for my sensitive new baby, despite our hard water and using coin-op machines. The answer is Country Save!
For Jr. 1.0 (2y.o.) I use birdseye cotton flats with Flip covers mostly, with a couple wool covers and hemp doublers for nights. For Jr. 2.0 (5 weeks), I use All-in-2’s at the moment.
I love the bum genius elementals. I used those with my first. Am rebuilding my stash for the new little one.
my cd mystery was solved , when i figured out what the significant other would use. pockets- i have t stuff them for him. but freetimes are easy for us both as well as elemental! – mystery solved !! dad friendly, kid approved 😉
We haven’t started using cloth yet, but we plan to when baby comes! I plan to buy a bunch of different types to figure out what system works best for us.
Since I was working within a budget I started with prefolds and just got one of each of the others. I’m glad my stash is varied because I’ve loved and hated each one at different points!
I started out with freetimes. I tried nbge and flips as well as some other brands of aios and covers but I keep coming back to freetimes. Guess I solved my mystery at the first shot just had to keep trying other things to realize it!
i solved my cloth diaper mystery by asking questions on a cloth diapering community on facebook, like how to strip diapers for example.
omg. is this a Martin?!?!?!jsgflsdvfU;IGFWEBF DV
I love pockets and aio’s while out and about. Flips and pre folds while at home.
My little one is only four weeks old so I definitely haven’t solved all of our problems like his small chicken legs not fitting into the diapers I have, but I did solve one leaking problem with our prefolds and covers by adding inserts.
Well we’ve used 4.0s for 3years now, but recently tried flips. Found out they are pretty cool. Just tried freetimes two weeks ago. My hubby and I are amazed by how easy they are. So I decided to try an elemental. I just got Martin in our first elemental. So our mystery is ever-changing. One things not a mystery though. Cloth diapers are wonderful!
New to cding but I LOVE MY flips!!!!
Flip with an overnight insert with a cloth on top. Bulletproof for my 2 year old who sleeps 12 hours at night.
I use largely Bumgenius 4.0 w/Geffen Baby prefolds stuffed in at night. For travel I like Flip with hemp inserts.
No mystery for me! My sis liked BG AIOs so that’s what I went with.
I like Bumgenis but definitely enjoy trying out new things as each type have better uses than others
We started out with a big variety of brands and styles. Luckily, my husband and I both liked one system more than the rest, so we liquidated almost everything we had and invested in Flips (which we both love best) and now use those exclusively at home. We also have some 4.0s, 2 Freetimes and an Elemental for diaper bag convenience. We love that the tabs and snaps are the same on these as the Flips that we use every day, so we can change diapers really quickly on the go 🙂
I use regular pre-fold diapers with econubum covers. For extra protection at nap and night times, I use a microfiber insert. Works just fine for me.
My favorite systems are now flip.
We like pockets the best, but we also use prefolds. BumGenius definitely fits our LO the best with no leaks.
Our stash consists of entirely BG 4.0s. That’s all we’ve ever used and all we’ve ever needed. 2 kids in and going strong!
We use a mix of 4.0s and Flips.
I’ve not fully solved the mystery but bum genius aio for over night and grovia with stay dry inserts in the day is my current habit. I’m still looking for something trim for days but we’re pretty close to having it down now.
Pocket diapers … I tried prefolds, but they were to bulky
Solved the mystery w/ help from my sister! My favorite systems are the all-in-one or pockets.
We do all freetimes.
I love pocket diapers – the bumGenius 4.0
We have discovered that our favorite cloth diaper systems are pocket diapers and covers with inserts & prefolds. So simple and no mystery!
We love our bumgenius 4.0 and flip covers, but are still really interested in trying aio’s and other systems!
Well, I am a soon to be first time mom who will be using cloth diapers for the first time ever, my mystery has not been solved yet hahahaha. We invested in a few Grovia Hybrid, Softbums, and Buttons. My husband really liked the idea of the AI2 system. We will see how these work out! Thanks!
We love AIOs
Our biggest mystery was how to make it easier on my husband! Hook and loop closures solved that dilemma for him!
Love flip diapers, when I am washing all my pocket diapers I turn to these because only a few can last me a whole day and I love that I can use all natural inexpensive prefolds. Using these allows me to line dry my diapers now since I don’t have to worry about running low on my stash.
We are new to cloth diapers so we are just trying to build our stash with a little but of everything in preparation of our daughters arrival this December. 🙂
we had lots of problems with ammonia burns, after I stopped dipes in every way I knew how I learned about wool and more natural fibers. We switched our overnights to some bamboo fitteds and used some wool covers and problem solved!
Bumgenius diapers are hands down the best diaper solution for our baby! We even use them over night and nap time.
I’m trying out many systems right now but really love the bum genius elementals!
The mystery I think is ongoing for each baby as they grow and their wetting increases!
So far, flips and Kissaluvs with liners made by mom and gram work for us. Who knows what the next growth spurt will bring us to like!
Not too big of a mystery for doing cloth a second time around. I figured out a good system with my first, making cloth diapering a breeze with my second. We love our Freetimes & all our 4.0s are still hiding up.
I figured out and mastered the origami fold on a flat diaper.
Flip covers and Econobum prefolds. Now potty training and using the Flip trainer shells and Thirsties hemp doublers as inserts.
We needed something easy and idiot proof. BG Freetimes and prefolds with the Flip covers were our answer. Pocket diapers were too complicated for my husband. Apparently it’s hard to remember to stuff them.
with my first i was all about pockets and fitteds. with baby #2, i’ve really come to love prefolds, wool, and the grovia hybrid with their cotton soakers.
My favorite system is Thirsties Duo Wraps with my Econobum prefolds.
We solved our cloth diaper mystery by trying a little bit of everything. Pockets, prefolds and covers, fitteds. And we actually use a little bit everything everyday. Not just one brand or one kind.
We were so overwhelmed by soo many brands and decided to go with all bum genius 4.0s. It was a great way to start and I loved the quality and how easy it has been. Now I’m in love with free times and want more!
I love AI2’s – Flips are my favorite!
A mix of 4.0s, flips, and. lalabye. Hemp, bamboo and cotton along with a little microfiber for inserts
im still working on my mystery but bamboo inserts and pocket diapers have helped a lot!
I’ve learned you just have to roll with what works for you & your child. With my first pockets were great. I’d stuff my BGs and have them ready for a quick change. With #2, prestuffed pockets seemed like crazy talk and we started using flips and flats for quick changes. You just have to find what works for your family.
I mostly use 4.0s, but they just weren’t doing the trick for overnights since my LO is a heavy wetter. I decided to try Freetimes with a hemp insert added under the flaps and it allowed for a good fit and the extra protection we needed.
I started with pockets and experimented with different types of insert combinations. Once I had that down, I started branching out and trying different styles, like AIO and Flips with prefolds.
Stinkies by using cotton inserts inside my bG 3.0s and 4.0s!
We have found that the Flip system fits our needs the best. My daughter would leak outside of the 4.0’s at night but that doesn’t happen with Flips! We also love the fact that she can wear the cover more than once, making it easier to coordinate her outfits with her diapers! 🙂 I now have 2 friends who converted to Flip from sposies, because they saw how much I liked them and how well they work!
My plan to solve my cloth diaper mystery is to get a few of each system until I find what works best when my baby arrives! I plan on Econobum newborn covers and inserts until my baby fits comfortably in a variety of Flip and Bumgenius one sizes.
I solved my diapering dilemma by just using a variety of dipes. I never could decide on just one type :)You may use these HTML tags and attributes:
Trial and error. It definitely took lots of trial and error to find what works best for us. Started out with covers and prefolds then pockets and now I’m hooked on aio.
I asked it by using bum genius!
We tried out 4.0s and some all in ones, but finally came to the conclusion that the versatility of Flip covers and inserts is what works for us. We love our Flips!
Bum genius free time!
My favorite system is having an assortment of diapers. I like flips and prefolds for everyday use and Freetimes and 4.0s for out and about. We also have a bunch of hemp babies inserts for our heavy wetter. It’s a little complicated but it works for us!
I haven’t started using cloth diapers yet (twins arrive on Monday!!). However, in choosing our cloth diaper system, we decided to go with prefolds and Flip covers. I wasn’t even looking at cloth diapers at the time, when I saw a blog post about someone cloth diapering twins. This was the system they used, and it seemed so simple! It also happened to be one of the cheapest routes we found. So I’m really looking forward to putting it into practice and hoping it will be a good fit for our family!
I’m new to cloth diapering, and your website has helped me in deciding to cloth diaper my child, and is a great resource as well.
I love prefolds with a Snappi under my Flip covers!
I’d like an assortment of products to solve any mysteries that arise, as I have not started cloth just yet!
We love Bumgenius 4.0s for at home & daycare, and flips for outings and travel.
