We went through soooo many different diapers until we finally found 4.0s and they are the only ones that work on my son. No red marks, no leaking. I am in love with them and they make up our entire stash!

We actually use 3 different ‘systems’ depending on the situation… I really like All-In-Two systems like Flip (but I prefer some other that have snap-in inserts) for daytime use at home, easy to use, easy to laundry, easy to put away. Pockets are great for the diaper bag since they are the easiest for other caregivers to use (in my opinion a pre-stuffed pocket is far less confusing than an AIO with flaps or extra material) and I can adjust what/how much I stuff them with as my LO grows. And then we use fitted diapers with covers for overnight (we were able to use pockets or Elementals for awhile, but now LO rolls around so much / side sleeps that nothing but a fitted seems to work).

So I really hate thick cloth diapers. Trim diapers are really a huge factor to me. So a high quality hemp is so important to me so that it is trim but doesn’t compromise absorbency.

I was using the older style of Elementals, and now going back to the basics with Flips with flats and prefolds. I still love my elementals though.

These mini-stashes are still at work on baby #2. 🙂

When I originally started cloth diapering within the first week my daughters diaper area turned bright red! I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong and it looked so painful I almost gave up cloth diapering all together. I did a lot of research and finally discovered that washing cloth diapers in an HE washing machine is significantly different than how you was them in older versions. I stripped my diapers, allowed her bottom to heal and state over and it’s been all roses and sparkles ever since! I love my BumGenius brand!

We started out with a big variety of brands and styles. Luckily, my husband and I both liked one system more than the rest, so we liquidated almost everything we had and invested in Flips (which we both love best) and now use those exclusively at home. We also have some 4.0s, 2 Freetimes and an Elemental for diaper bag convenience. We love that the tabs and snaps are the same on these as the Flips that we use every day, so we can change diapers really quickly on the go 🙂

I’ve learned you just have to roll with what works for you & your child. With my first pockets were great. I’d stuff my BGs and have them ready for a quick change. With #2, prestuffed pockets seemed like crazy talk and we started using flips and flats for quick changes. You just have to find what works for your family.

I wasn’t even looking at cloth diapers at the time, when I saw a blog post about someone cloth diapering twins. This was the system they used, and it seemed so simple!
