May 16, 2013 11:00 am | by

Blankets? Check. Carseat? Check. Baby clothes? Check. Diapers and wipes? .. .. Uh, no.

Welcoming a new baby to your family is a one-of-a-kind experience, but can also be overwhelming. Preparing for the arrival of an infant is key and will always make things a bit easier for everyone.

Whether you spend months planning every small detail of your baby’s nursery, or run to your local Cotton Babies store just weeks before your due date to stock up on last-minute supplies, we want to make sure that you are ready for your big day.

If you’re expecting, or want to give a thoughtful gift to someone who is, then this giveaway was created for you! You can win two bumGenius Newborn Cloth Diapers, a pack of bumGenius Flannel Wipes, and a pair of bumGenius BabyLegs. All you need to do is share a few tips for a new mom. Want to improve your chances of winning? There are bonus entries available too!

PS: For the soon-to-be moms who live near a Cotton Babies retail store, stop by this Saturday for Mama To Be Tea.

This free event helps pregnant moms connect with the natural birthing community, prepare for delivery, discover new resources, and see what products will help ease the transition into parenthood.

Your baby does not have to be what some chart says. Always know it is your baby not theirs. You need to parent by what feels right for you, not for anyone else. And find a Doctor with the same thoughts about the baby as you. If yu cloth diaper and a doctor snickers at you, then find a new doctor.

I spent a lot of time planning for our first, but with baby #2 due in 3 months getting ready has been a lot easier and faster. We just moved last week and rather then rearrange again in 3 months we already have all the baby stuff (from baby #1) set up.

All I can say is if you read books about babies and delivery, don’t take them too seriously. Every woman, baby and family is different. Don’t stress if you or your baby don’t match a particular model!

Considering I am already prepping and am not even pregnant yet…over a year! I am a big planner and researcher (aka perfectionist), so I want to make sure I have every single duck in a row by the time baby comes. My husband might think I am a little bit crazy, but I think he will appreciate all I have put in to making sure our baby has a great start at life 🙂

I spent a lot of time prepping for my newborn, and I’m not sure I was every fully ready. Plus, she arrived quite early so there were some basics (like the nursery!) that just weren’t done yet. But it all turned out okay. 🙂

When I was pregnant with my 1st I spent 9 months prepping lol. I was constantly planning, shopping, organizing, reading books etc. Now I am 6 months pregnant with #2 and have yet to start prepping, there is no time with a toddler running around …. I will most likely do some last minute prep 🙂

I realized, that it’s okay not to have the house spotless, especially when living with a newborn! Relax and enjoy your child!

Ask for help when you need it. Especially from other moms who’ve been there before.

Don’t compare yourself to other moms and don’t let others compare you either. You are uniquely extraordinary!

Don’t beat yourself up over not living up to your own expectations about motherhood (or other’s! ). Focus on loving your newborn, your family, yourself.
