Thursday Giveaway: Just a reminder
October 18, 2012 1:00 pm | by

I am so tired. Are you? In the last seven days, I’ve worked in the office and from home; attended scout meetings; cared for a fevering, vomitting child; endured a traveling husband and had way too many sleepless nights. Last night, I threw in the towel, fed my kids drive thru dinner and took them to a park. Once they were finished eating, I let them run around and pretended they weren’t my children. Don’t worry, I kept a safe eye on “other people’s kids.” By pretending for a moment that my children were just kids on a playground, I was able to relax. For a moment, I didn’t feel it necessary to referee the fight my twins were having about the rules of their made-up game. They were just kids being kids and they would work it out. I know some of you know exactly how this feels.

Parenthood isn’t easy. Some days are great, some are okay, and some you just survive. That’s why we created this lovely little shirt to remind you that, regardless of what happened in your home today, “You’re one good mum!” This shirt is intentionally printed backwards, so that when you see yourself in the mirror, you get that lovely little message. It may seem silly, but it actually works! There’s something about glancing up from the mirror after washing your hands for the 47th time that day and seeing those four simple words that will bring a small smile to your face.

For today’s giveaway, we’re not only giving you one of our “Good mum” t-shirts, but we’d also like to give you a little free time – a bumGenius Freetime, that is. To enter, simply tell us what has made you a good mum today? Did you share the last bite of your favorite food with an inquisitive toddler? Did you stay up a few extra minutes to finish the cloth diaper laundry? Did you read their favorite book one more time? Are they fed, bathed and sleeping – because at my house, that makes you a great parent!

I have recently acquired custody of my 2 nieces and nephew (on top of my 3) cause their mom is a junkie and choose you know what over her kids. I love my growing family. I also have a full time job working with special needs children in a residential setting. So my heart is open to loving those that no one else can love!!! Does this count?

My little girl is 8 weeks, I’ve been having a lot of stomach pain/problems lately. But today I still washed all her dirty clothes, sorted out and put away the clean ones, took her up to her room and showed her all her toys to see which ones to bring downstairs, and cuddled her most of the rest of the time.

Today I snuggled with my son and sang to him before his nap.

I have been in ICU and my baby in NICU since last week. We are both out of the woods and today I got to be her mom and feed her for the first time

I made sure to include an all time favorite snack, a fruit snack, in my kindergarteners lunch. Caleb, my 2 year old just wants to be cuddled today and my 4 month old just wants to be held, so that is what we are doing today.

I tried to just “be present” today. I was exhausted from being up most of the night, but took time to paint my daughter’s nails–it made her day. Also, just listening when my kids talk, really listening, makes a huge difference to them. 🙂

I see you, and raise you a toddler that has woken up screaming every 30 minutes for the last three days. (Thank you, ‘hand, foot, and mouth disease!’)

Add to that a 7 month old who’s still nursing multiple times through the night.

And I didn’t even use a sick day until today… (HS teacher) Today has been redesignated as ‘nap time’
