Overnight we generally do a 4.0 with the regular and newborn inserts. We do a diaper change halfway through the night during feeds, so she generally doesn’t go that long yet.

My overnight routine is not a routine, really. It varies from night to night, but includes putting my 2 year old back to sleep after she wakes up and comes and gets in my bed, and feeding my two month old in the middle of the night, though he usually sleeps for a good six hours. Sometimes my daughter will sleep through the night and my son will sleep through the night, and then I get it really easy, but not usually. I do have to change my two month old son’s diaper during the night, but my daughter is good overnight in one diaper.

Our overnight routine is my newborn eating as much as she can by 8:30, she does it every night but I can’t complain too much since she is already sleeping through the night

I think we have a pretty standard nighttime routine. Brush teeth, put on pajamas, hug daddy goodnight, and then read two books, talk a little about the day or tell a silly story, sing a song or two and then lights out!

Put older kids to bed (8:30) then nurse and put baby to bed (9:30). Get ready for bed myself. 20 minutes after putting baby down she is up crying. (Yes, this happens every night at the same time). Get baby back to sleep and then I go to bed. Baby gets up at 1:30 to nurse. Sometimes I’m lazy and just put her in bed with me. Sleep till 6 when baby gets up to nurse again.

Once we get our daughter to bed, my husband and I usually lay down with her and watch tv for a few moments before realizing we are exhausted and pass out… and then throughout the night I BF our little (between 2-5 times) Sometimes play on my phone, go eat something, or even clean if I can’t fall back asleep right away. The struggles of being a mom… I haven’t had uninterrupted sleep in over a year! Thank goodness for coffee!

I started cloth diapering this week, and I wish I would’ve started sooner! I have a 2yr old and a 1yr old who’ve been in disposables since they were born ( I didn’t know any better!), but after much research and asking many questions of my CD friends, I decided to start. My husband and I were spending $100+ on diapers+wipes+diaper genie refills EVERY MONTH, and with baby #3 on the way, I knew something had to change.

Even though I have to pay to do my laundry at a facility across the street (no washer /dryer in our apt), I will be CDing from here on out.

My favorite CD is BumGenius 4.0. The covers line dry very quickly, and the inserts do well in the dryer (I’m not allowed to line dry anything outside my apt).

We currently use disposables because we have a heavy wetter who is sleeping through the night. We are just nervous that if we use cloth he’ll start waking up more often. But I’ve picked up some fitted that I plan to try out this weekend 🙂 The worst that can happen is it leaks, right?

We’re lucky that our 7 month old only wakes once, and briefly. She gets a bath every other night – on bath nights she gets diaper-free time on the floor on her towel. We get her into her nighttime diaper and PJs, feed her in the glider, and I usually sing to her while we rock. She doesn’t usually fall asleep anymore, but we’re lucky we can just lay her in her crib and she’ll talk to herself for a few minutes, then roll over and go to sleep 🙂

My routine is put my 18 month old to bed, then avoid cleaning by watching netflix as long as possible while checking on him as often as possible, and then at 3 am finally give up, load the dishwasher, and go to bed. There’s usually a cry about a wet diaper around 4-5, and then more sleep until 9. More sleep is an excellent thing!

  • Anne said...

Our overnight routine: all three kiddos in bed at 8pm, the 2-year-old climbs in our bed usually by 2am 🙂 3-month-old wakes to be fed around 4am. 4-year-old climbs in our bed when she wakes around 7am, so I start my day with snuggles from all three!

I get the kids to bed (2 boys, Vincent 8yrs, Lucas 6 yrs) around 8/8:30pm…then it’s chore time until about 11pm. I’m 9 month pregnant with our first daughter (due April 29th) so I’ve been very uncomfortable. Sleeping at night has become minimal between body aches, tossing and turning and bathroom breaks. So I’m up ever hour or so readjusting the 400 pillows I have surrounding me or draining my bladder. Also for the past few nights my 6 yr old has had the flu, so he’s been keeping me busy. This tired mama would love to win a new dipe! 🙂

Anywhere between 2 and 3 the baby wakes to nurse. Anywhere between 3 and 5 the 1 year old wakes for a bottle. Anywhere between 4 and 6 the baby wakes again to nurse. My overnight routine depends on if I’m working or night. I am RN and work night shift. Sometimes it’s have dinner with the family, nurse the baby and head off to work. Tonight I’m home so it was get dinner, get the kiddos ready for bed (I have a one year old girl in cloth and a 5 1/2 year old daughter). After rocking and nursing my youngest and getting her to bed I help make sure my oldest brushes her teeth. Then we read a story in her bed before saying good night. By that time I just want to sit and relax, so my hubby and I typically snuggle up to watch tv, usually reruns of the office and/or friends.

Bed time can be kind of hectic here. We have dinner together as a family, bathe the littles ones, then into pjs and night time diapers. For the oldest, we use bamboo inserts and organic cotton flip insert with flip cover abs little sis gets a econobum with hemp babies inside a flip cover. Then it’s time to enjoy milk while snuggling reading a story or watching movie as a family. We have finally figured out different combos that work well for each girl overnight. 🙂 yay for successful cloth diapering.

Overnight routine consists of a bath or shower depending on the level of exhaustion. After that it’s reading to him in the lazy boy I bought that sits next to his crib that’s now in the “toddler bed” arrangement. I then have him lay in bed and play on his iPad if he wishes. Sometimes he falls right asleep. We then try to rush clean the hous before watching some TV. Around 2am he navigates to our room because something scared him. He wedges himself between us pushing us nearly off the bed. I then get up and sleep in the lazy boy. Lol.

For my almost 2 year old medically complex kiddo who is tube fed he either gets the same or if we know he will be up a bunch because he is sick or his pump is going off a lot etc we just put him in his normal freetimes. Until recently he was up 3 times a night still so we just put him in freetimes.

She plays Patty Cake with Daddy and then we cuddle while she nurses down to sleep! Once she’s passed out, she gets tucked into her own bed until its time for some dream feeding 🙂

Cloth wise, we don’t have a night routine. My twins are 2 1/2 and do disposables at night because they sleep 10-12 hours a night and the smell is too much for us. This works because we save on cloth during the day.
