BLOG_sharethelove

The holiday season is quickly approaching. It’s a time to be thankful while also extending a hand  to those who are less fortunate.

Share the Love was created to help needy families — all year round. It’s a locally-sustainable, nationally-accessible cloth diaper bank that provides families with cloth diapers.

With more than 50 host sites in the U.S., Share the Love continues to grow and fight poverty in local communities.

For this week’s giveaway, we want to Share the Love.

Two people will win a Flip One-Size Diaper Cover and a pack of Flip Disposable Inserts. But to help share the love even more, the same two winners will receive an additional Flip cover and pack of disposable inserts to give to someone who could use the gift of cloth diapers.

To enter, comment below by telling us what Share the Love means to you.

For more information on Share the Love and what you can do to help, click here.

Sharing the love to me means sharing knowledge of how easy using cloth really is. I really don’t know if I would have tried it if it hadn’t been for a helpful stranger sharing her knowledge with me and answering my questions. I had been researching getting started with cloth online and I was feeling so overwhelmed and I was pretty nervous about giving it a try but a friend of mine gave me the name of a friend of hers that had cloth diapered her two kids. I contacted her on facebook and just being able to talk to an actual real person – someone that was just like me – made me feel so much more confident. Now that I have been doing it for a few months I tell my family and friends about how easy it has been for me and let them know that if they ever have any questions I would be glad to talk

Share the love means exactly that…sharing the love and blessings I have been given with others! I love the idea of helping parents who desire to use cloth, but may not be able to afford it! Helping them with something as small as a diaper donation can sometimes give families a little breathing room.

Share the Love, for me, is proof that it takes a village to raise a child. We all depend on each other and those who are in need sometimes have to depend on others. I am proud to be apart of a program that allows a community to pull together to help one another. It shows that some kindness and a group of amazing volunteers can truly make an impact! I love to give my time and love, and Share the Love is my way of helping sometime that I used to be! We had to wait to switch to cloth until we could swing it. Every need was a struggle and no one should struggle for diapers. I hope I can help alleviate some of the stress that buying diapers can bring, as I know it would have been a godsend for me as a needy young mom.

To me, Share the Love means providing what I deem as a necessity in my life to someone else who cannot afford it. This is why our family participates in food drives, regularly gives items to the Crisis Pregnancy Center and homeless shelters, etc. When I learned 1 in 3 women struggle to afford diapers, I decided to buy diapers when they are on sale and donate them to organizations that give them to women. But I also try to help by donating cloth diapers to friends in need and plan to donate at least part of my diaper stash when we finish diapering.

Sharing the love means giving to others. That doesn’t always equate to money. Even when you don’t have any you can still give time or donate things you aren’t using. I like that Cotton Babies is not just giving the gift of cloth to those in need, but also educating people. People still don’t realize how easy cloth can really be.

Share the Love means a LOT to me! I was the program’s first recipient which was really the turning point in my life, I feel. The kindness of strangers helped me to get out of my “having 2 babies in 15 months and dealing with postpartum depression” slump. I made many positive changes in my life after the stress of having enough diapers for both my babies was relieved by this wonderful program. I went on to become Share the Love’s first Host Site! I know personally just how much having enough diapers for your little one can change how you view the world. It seems silly, but it’s true! It is my passion and mission now, to help as many moms as I possibly can to feel the way I did when I received my package of cloth diapers from Share the Love. I’m proof that the program works and it’s life changing. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that? 🙂

Being a Share the Love host means many things to me but mostly its about empowering other moms and working with them to find an affordable, sustainable solution to their cloth diapering needs so that they never have to choose between cloth diapering and another daily necessity. We all need a helping hand at some point in our lives and if something as simple as a few cloth diapers can make such a huge impact in day to day living…what’s not to love about that?

In terms of cloth diapers, “Share The Love” means passing down a gift that can be used over an over again while freeing up financial burden.

  • Deidre Davis said...

To me, Share The Love means to share the love of cloth diapers with someone else-helping them financially in the process! Cloth diapers have helped us through some tight times.once I was to the point where I actually had more diapers than I NEEDED, I wanted to help others!

  • Katie S said...
    November 7, 2013 at 9:24 am

I’ve been extremely fortunate to win some diapers along the way and I know that that is what actually made cloth diapers a possibility for me. My husband has been very reluctant about using cloth diapers, and at first did not want me to by any. Only after I won a few and he could see that they were not that hard to use and that I was committed to sticking to using them did he agree to let me start buying them for myself. Because of this, I can see how donations of cloth diapers may be the only way for some families to make cloth diapering a possibility. The blessings of being given something that you can’t afford to buy otherwise is huge. I love the idea of helping other families lighten their burden when they are struggling just to feed and shelter their kids. I have some diapers that don’t see much use that I would love to donate.

Share the love means when someone’s in need- and you have something to give you respond. The program makes me happy because after working and living in a low-income community, I’ve seen how poverty can be expensive. In cloth diapering, those who would benefit from the money savings of cloth can’t afford the start up costs of cloth diapers. I’m glad this program is in place!

Sharing the Love is wonderful. I’ve had new parent friends feel like they couldn’t cloth diaper because the initial cost is higher than buying a couple packs of diapers. Whenever I have a new mommy friend who shows interest in cloth diapering, I support her and purchase CDing supplies as her shower gift. It would be wonderful to pass even more CDs along!
