Genius Series Giveaway

Truly Genius Tuesday has been an epic ride so far. We have discovered all things genius in our Genius Series and even featured a couple more than one time. One of our favorite moments by far was when we gave away an actual pie on Pi Day! Cotton Babies is a place that loves to celebrate… and we love including delicious food in the mix. Side note: if you’re interested in some of the funny Behind The Scenes of Cotton Babies and want to see just how much we celebrate with food, follow @hashtagfreeworkfood on Instagram. TGT Neil

Today’s edition of Truly Genius Tuesday… err, Wednesday, highlights the latest print in our Genius Series, Neil. Who was Neil… Forty-eight years and 5 days ago, Neil Armstrong took an epic walk on the moon’s surface. Neil Armstrong was an aerospace engineer, naval aviator, test pilot, university professor, but most notably, an American astronaut and the first person to walk on the Moon. Way back in 1969, Neil was as the spacecraft commander for Apollo 11, NASA’s first manned lunar landing mission. On July 20, 1969 at 10:56 p.m., Neil Armstrong took his famous first step on the moon. Since

Accidental Genius

Today is Truly Genius Tuesday, but we’re not going to talk about a genius from the Genius Series. Instead, we’ll explore that little asterisk on the Genius Series page- our Accidental Genius. Why is Accidental not a Genius? It says “I’m a Genius”. The print is more detailed like most of our Genius Series prints. However, we couldn’t call it Genius because, well, there’s a typo in the print. From Genius to Accidental Genius bumGenius and Flip diapers were arriving in our warehouse. The Marketing team was making the final plans for the release. The next genius, Giovanni, would be

Countess of Lovelace

Countess of Lovelace

It’s Truly Genius Tuesday! Today we’re going to discover the true genius behind Lovelace. This colorful print joined our Genius Series in September 2011 along with Albert. The Countess of Lovelace is a pretty cool chick. She lived in the 1800’s, but is considered the world’s first computer programmer. Who is the Countess of Lovelace? Ada Lovelace was a mathematician who wrote the first algorithm for the first computer program in the mid-1800s. Her contributions to computer science were not discovered until the mid-1900s, but she has since received many posthumous honors for her work. In 1980, the U.S. Department of Defense named

Genius Harper

This week for Truly Genius Tuesday, we’re talking about a Genius Series diaper print that has definitely been an “HTF” (hard to find) cloth diaper: the elusive genius Harper. Cotton Babies designed this Genius Series print in partnership with one of our bumGenius retailers, Abby’s Lane, for an exclusive release in November 2014. About a year ago, we moved cloth diaper production to our headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. During the move, we discovered a very small amount of leftover Harper fabric. The Genius Series Harper print was featured in  Cotton Babies Mob-famous photo Jennifer Labit posted: a pallet of remnant material. We had

Patriotic Genius

Patriotic Genius Mary Pickersgill

Each Truly Genius Tuesday, we explore the lives of those who have inspired the unique cloth diaper prints in our Genius Series. We’ve talked about mathematics, discovered the geniuses of music and movies, and explored the world of plants and animals. We’ve met Maggie, traveled to the rainforest with Chico, and this week – in honor of Flag Day – we are talking about our patriotic genius, Mary Pickersgill! Meet our Patriotic Genius: Mary Pickersgill Mary Pickersgill was an American business woman and well-known seamstress. She created the Great Garrison Flag that flew during the 1814 Battle of Baltimore. Aside from her

Genius in the Wild
June 6, 2017 1:46 pm | by

When we started the Genius Series, we were excited about all the brilliant worlds to explore. We began with Albert and Lovelace which come from the academic world, and then we explored genius in the wild with Maathai and Irwin! Genius in the Wild: Irwin Steve Irwin was an Australian wildlife expert, conservationist and television personality who was famous for his series, “The Crocodile Hunter.” In addition to his role on television, he made many contributions to wildlife education and conservation. He ran an organization that that not only rescued and protected crocodiles, but also supported a number of animal-related charities.

Genius Storytellers
May 30, 2017 4:11 pm | by

The Genius Series started with Albert and Lovelace, but I think it’s fair to say Jules and Carroll put it on the map. Our limited edition Genius Series prints have been inspired by well-known geniuses. From adventurers to movie stars, each person has used their talents to leave an inspirational mark on the world. Not only did these genius storytellers make their mark in the literary world, but the cloth diaper world too. When our designer was working on these two prints we knew they were cute, but we did not realize the true love they would inspire in the

Meet Austen: Bold, Passionate & Perseverant
May 23, 2017 2:30 pm | by

We’re honoring Jane Austen, one of our favorite literary genius, in this week’s Truly Genius Tuesday! Jane Austen was bold… She wasn’t afraid to break the rules! Though her writing didn’t “take off” and gain popularity until after her death, she kept going, following her dream. Her perseverance and strength to push through the stereotypes of her time have made a difference for years to come. “To be fond of dancing was a certain step towards falling in love.”  “My heart is and always will be yours.” “We are all fools in love.” “Till this moment, I never knew myself.” Jane Austen inspired
