Tuesday Giveaway: Economical Econobum
January 29, 2013 5:29 pm | by

Are you considering the switch from disposable to cloth diapers but aren’t sure how to make the first steps? Econobum cloth diapers are an economical way to start cloth diapering. Econobum cloth diapers are specifically designed to be budget friendly, which means you’ll cross the threshold from investment to savings even more quickly than with other styles of cloth diapers.

Let’s take a look at it this way: an Econobum trial pack comes with one cover and three cotton prefold inserts. You can wipe out and reuse the cover multiple times, which means your Econobum trial pack is three diaper changes for just $11.95. Compare that to a package of size 3 store brand disposable diapers that has 36 changes for $8.99. That means each disposable change costs you approximately $0.25. At that rate, the Econobum trial pack “breaks even” at 48 changes. This means if you use the Econobum trial pack for three diaper changes each day (and wash each night), your investment pays off within 16 days. That means after a little more than two weeks of using your Econobum trial pack, you move from spending to saving! And once you start saving money, you can use those savings to reinvest in more cloth diapers, extending your stash until the point you can full-time cloth diaper, if you so choose.

Many families choose this time of year to begin their cloth diapering stash. If you are expecting a tax refund, cloth diapers are a great way to use that little extra to give your regular budget a boost. Econobum Full Kits are packaged to be approximately one day’s worth of diaper changes in a ready to go box. Two full kits cost just $100  and will give you enough to cloth diaper full time!

For today’s giveaway, we want to give two families a jump start on savings with an Econobum Full Kit, a dozen bumGenius Flannel wipes, bumGenius Bottom Cleaner and a pair of bumGenius BabyLegs too! All you have to do is tell us what was (or is going to be) your first cloth diaper purchase? Did you start with one and grow your collection or did you buy a package deal right at the start? There’s no wrong answer here. Bonus entries are available below to improve your odds of winning.

We started with 6 bG 4.0’s that I ordered from your site the day they came out in July 2010. We are now onto #2 in cloth and still have more bum genius products than any other diapers. Love the quality and affordability of all your products! Thank you for the chance.

My first purchase was used prefolds from craigslist. I’m planning on purchasing some Lil Helper diapers, but also want to give the Flips diapers a try as well.

I am starting with prefolds and adding covers slowly. I bought all my prefolds used on Craigslist, since I am going to be a working mom, and I wanted to make sure to have extra in case I don’t get right to the laundry.

A Rumparooz all in one. It’s very cute, but I much prefer the later-purchased bumGenius diapers we have!

We started with quite the eclectic mix: two dozen pre-folds, a couple of Bummis covers, two Flips, and a half dozen Fuzzibunz.

We started with a variety of different covers and prefolds to see what we liked (and because we had no experience or idea of what to expect).
