This past Christmas, my kids were very fortunate to receive some really cool toys. Now that we’ve had a few weeks to enjoy them, Whirly Squigz are coming out as a top toy in my house.
What are Whirly Squigz?
Whirly Squigz remind me of fidget spinners, which have been a huge fad, but they’re safe for little ones(6 months and up). And honestly, they’re even cooler. A pack includes 3 Whirly Squigz made out of colorful BPA-free silicone. Each Whirly Squigz has a suction cup on the back. They spin around with just a flick and keep on spinning. They’re easy enough for my 3-year-old to play with without help from mom and dad.
How We Play
My daughter loves to stick them onto our dishwasher and spin them round and round. The suction cups will stick onto any smooth surface, including the bathtub, storm door, highchair, table, etc. Sometimes we try to guess which one will keep spinning the longest.
She even entertains her baby brother with them, too. He loves to watch! When he gets a chance, he also likes to bat at them and gnaw on them. Poor little teething babe! You don’t have to stick them to a surface. They’re even fun to rest on your hand and watch them spin.
Why We Love Whirly Squigz
Besides being a fun toy, its encourages fine motor skills and promote cause-effect learning and sensory exploration. It’s a high-quality toy with bearings that won’t rust or degrade, which means it will have a lasting, smooth spin for a long time to come.
To be honest, I find it rather relaxing to spin them in my hand while I watch TV. It’s great to have a toy that both of my kids (and even us parents) can enjoy. Since it comes in a set of 3, I don’t have to play referee deciding whose turn it is to play.
Fat Brain Toys makes tons of cool and educational toys that you should check out. I am so happy Santa Claus brought Whirly Squigz to my house!
