Okay, okay! We realize Love is technically NOT part of the Genius Series… It does not say “I’m a genius” in the design like our other Genius Series diapers, but it does say “love my cloth diapers,” and what’s not genius about LOVE! When we started Truly Genius Tuesday, we said sometimes we’ll get to share a little more behind the scenes info about our cloth diaper prints, so that is what we’re going to share today.
Mobber became Love
We released Love on September 16, 2015, but the story of Love, its design and its name started a couple years earlier. Our Love print happens to be inspired by our friends in The Mob. We wanted to do something special for our very dedicated fans, the Facebook fans we lovingly call Mobbers. If you are not part of The Cotton Babies Mob, join our Facebook group. It’s a place for parents to connect and dish about all things baby and cloth diapering, of course! We even recently made a shirt just for The Mob!
But back to Love… We noticed everyone was talking about their “bumGenius rainbow.” Many would post impressive stash shots of their limited edition Genius Series cloth diapers, and we thought why not create a rainbow print in honor of The Mob and call it… “Mobber!” …With double consonants and all (a “thing” we like to do with all our solid colors), it seemed like a perfect match.
LOVE is better
Several months later, we were finally printing the fabric, working on the production and planning the release schedule for the year. We loved the print so much, so instead of planning another limited edition print, we decided to make it part of our core line up, like Albert.
As we were brainstorming, I remember writing a thought down… “Let’s call it Love instead of Mobber because Love is better.” And it really is. Put On Love has become something very special to all of us, and at the heart of this print are some of our most loyal fans…. You guys help make genius happen!
