It’s downright cold here in St. Louis and this morning, so I pulled out Baby Legs for my 4-year-old daughter to wear with her favorite leggings. She was so excited to wear them and show them off to her siblings and friends. I used to think Baby Legs were just for babies, but after trying them out, I’m really impressed with the quality and longevity of this product. On my taller than average 4-year-old, they covered her heels to above her knees with no stretching. Another Cotton Babies staff member has a 10-year-old that wears Baby Legs as legwarmers, they

Cloth Diapers made with hook & loop closures will wear out over time. My goal through this post is to help you understand how to better take care of diapers made with hook & loop so they last longer. Hook and loop can be made of nylon or polyester, both essentially soft plastics. When nylon is exposed to high temperatures, it can change shape unpredictably. This will cause a negative effect on the ‘stickiness’ of the tabs. We recommend line drying any hook & loop product. bumGenius Original Pocket Diapers line dry quickly. To soften a bumGenius Elemental All-In-One, dry briefly in
I’ve had a nice break this summer – from the constant presence of the diaper bag anyway, if not from anything else. Lily went to full time panties in June and I carried around a bag for a couple weeks after that. As she became more reliable I left a change of clothes in the car and resurrected my long forgotten purse. It was great! I felt like I had lost about 20 pounds! I only brought the diaper bag with me if we were going to be stuck in one place for very long, like a waiting room, to
I am not a mom, but I am a very proud “aunt” many, many times over. As such, I find myself constantly going to baby showers – all the time lately. I love going and celebrating the life that is coming into the world. It is so important and significant to me to honor the women in my life and watch, love and support them as they have cared for the life growing inside them before they even met them…face to face that is. Now, every time I am invited to a shower, I want to take something really great,
Cloth diapering is a whole world of its own (as I’m sure you are well aware!). When I first started learning about cloth diapers, I was so overwhelmed by all the terms and acronyms on message boards and blogs…so I thought I would refresh this post from 2005 and decipher a few more terms you may see out there: AIO – All-In-One diapers – diaper with a waterproof outer and absorbent inner all in one piece Aplix – hook and loop fastener a-la Velcro bG – bumGenius – top selling cloth diaper brand CD – cloth diaper Contour – cloth
Cloth diapers are all over the news these days – everything from how easy and convenient they are to use to the fact that they are more cost-effective, better for the environment and safer for our babies’ bums than disposables. It is often said “these aren’t your grandma’s cloth diapers” and that couldn’t be a more accurate statement. Sure, prefolds with a diaper cover resemble the diapers we toddled around in, but with amazing diapering systems out there, like bumGenius, cloth diapering breathes a whole new life. A recent article at thebigmoney.com focuses on the rise in cloth diapering during
I posted recently that I have had Lily (19months) in disposables while I navigated the stormy waters of morning sickness. I wondered what she would think when I switched her back. The first cloth diaper I put on her as a bumGenius. I didn’t point it out to her that it was any different than her usual disposable diaper, I just did a matter-of-fact diaper change and sent her on her way. She didn’t blink an eye and did not seem to notice a difference in any way. At the next diaper change, I tried something different. I let her
About the time baby learns how to flip from back to front, the trouble begins. Babies like to practice their skill and when do you want them on their backs more than during a diaper change? Overnight diaper changes go from being a pleasant time to talk and play to an all-out battle with a wet cat or a fish out of water. When they learn how to crawl it gets even worse. Now, not only can they turn over, but they have the potential to actually escape as well. Fun times! This is about the time my diaper changes
