Surviving Holiday Travel With Lots of Little Ones
December 18, 2021 8:00 am | by

When the number of kids is greater than the number of hands, the holiday season isn’t quite as magical, 24/7. What do you do when there are five kids, two hands, and ten packages to get into the post slot? How do you shop for Christmas presents when you have three of the kids in the buggy? As a mother of five children, 8 years and under at one point, I am going to share my survival tactics and hope that it will make your holiday season just a little bit merrier. Do Not Expect Picture Perfect Whoops, did I

Choosing the perfect holiday traditions for your family.

We are just days away from Christmas. Are you trying to decide which activities you and your family will do this weekend? Here are a few of my favorite holiday traditions to do with my own family. Here’s a piece of advice: you don’t need to do EVERY tradition! Once you start, your kids might expect you to follow through every year. Figure out what makes you all happy and do that together. Lights Whether it’s hanging your own or driving around to look at lights, this is a relatively low-key activity that will get you all in the holiday

Make baby's first Christmas full of style

Baby’s 1st Christmas is an exciting time for new parents. Whether it’s your first baby or not, it’s an exciting milestone. Even if your baby shows little interest in festivities, have fun and enjoy it! Christmas in Style You’re likely going to have lots of opportunities for photos between visiting Santa Claus, holiday parties, church, and of, course, Christmas morning. Make sure your kiddo is prepared for the mama-razzi with stylish clothes for this occasion. Pajamas Christmas jammies are a must in my house. Pro tip: buy a year ahead of time and stock up. Pajamas don’t go out of

Surviving the Holidays

Surviving the holidays as a parent. The holiday season is always busy, it’s easy to get caught up in all the busy-ness. After all the shopping, menu planning, gift planning and schedule making, I’m already exhausted and I imagine you are too. Take a deep breath – you got this! As parents, we often want to create magic holiday memories like those we see on a 30 second television commercial. The problem is, my children are much younger, not returning from college and if I smelled coffee brewing before my husband and I awoke, that would be a major red

Valentine’s Day Traditions
February 9, 2016 8:08 pm | by

Valentine’s Day for a third-grader means decorated shoe boxes filled with chalky hearts.  At age 13, it means carnations from secret admirers and awkward dances.  At 21, it means a LBD and a fancy restaurant. Now, 4 kids and mortgage later, it doesn’t exactly mean the same thing and those Valentine’s traditions vary. When a “real life” mom plans a Valentine’s date, these things typically come to my mind: Finding a babysitter who doesn’t have plans, the cost of said babysitter, making dinner reservations, crowded and overpriced restaurants, and then the feeling of disappointment because my expectations didn’t hit reality.

Real Mom Talk: Fun Stocking Stuffers for Littles
December 12, 2015 11:47 am | by

My little guy is really in the Christmas spirit this year and I love it! He’s very curious and asks me many questions about the holiday, some that leave me quite puzzled. I’ve started doing a few of our own holiday traditions this year and a few that my mom used to do with my sister and I when we were growing up. One of those traditions was Christmas stockings. We always looked forward to our stockings on Christmas morning and my mom would fill them with the best things. Usually something we could use (socks, undergarments, hats, gloves), something

REVIEW: Green Toys Race Car
December 3, 2015 8:34 pm | by

It’s that time of year again! And the most wonderful time, if that! I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy holiday shopping and snagging a few different things I know my little guy will love. With that being said I always try to shop as eco-friendly as possible. So many toys on the market are made with harsh chemicals and non-recyclable goods. Knowing that I can fill my little guy’s stocking with environmentally-friendly options always makes me feel better, an one toy brand that I’ve grown to absolutely love is Green Toys. Here’s why I adore this wonderful brand —
