Real Mom Talk: Why I Use Cloth Wipes
July 1, 2014 5:23 pm | by

Our cloth diapering story includes a few years of disposables. We had the “luxury” of wiping baby’s bum, putting the wipes in the diaper to roll up and throw away. It was easy, simple, and got rid of everything at once. Once we transitioned to cloth diapers, we were separating the disposable wipes from the cloth diaper to throw the wipes away. It felt… odd. I had to go to two different places in my house to get rid of the waste, sometimes I’d end up with poop on my hand, and I was still creating trash. Switching to cloth

Cloth 201: Camping with Cloth Diapers

Cloth Diaper Creams

Editor’s Note: This is a guest post. All commentary was submitted by a friend who was willing to share her experience on camping with cloth diapers. Camping. A chance to see the great outdoors and experience unlimited freedom. Whether you’re heading to the beach, escaping to the mountains, spending time by the lake, or settling on a campsite for a few days with your family, you can bring cloth diapers along for the ride.  When I was considering how to diaper during our trip, disposables seemed to conflict with the real meaning of camping. I’ve always loved camping, enjoying the outdoors and

Review: Flip Potty Trainer
June 26, 2014 8:18 pm | by

Our just-turned-four-year-old son has been out of diapers for about a year. Or, he’s out of diapers during the day at least. Staying dry all night has been a bit more of a struggle though, so I jumped at the chance to try out the Flip Potty Trainer from Cotton Babies.  I learned pretty quickly that I would need to boost the absorbency, at least initially. But the great thing about the system is that it’s easy to add an extra insert. I loved being able to adjust to what we needed, instead of being stuck with limited options. And even

Real Mom Talk: Homemade Orange Berry Yogurt Popsicles
June 23, 2014 7:44 pm | by

Homemade popsicles are on of my favorite things to make during the warm summer months. They are perfect for cooling off, yummy to eat, and a great way to get fruits and veggies into your littles one’s diet. We are avid homemade popsicle eaters around here, and today, I’m sharing our latest frozen popsicle recipe that we like to call Orange Berry Yogurt Pops. These pops are a great source of vitamins and antioxidants. You can find popsicle molds at almost any grocery store and online.  Ingredients: (This recipe makes about 6-8 popsicles)  1/2 c. Fresh or frozen blueberries 6 Whole

Cloth 101: Using a Diaper Sprayer

Prepping Cloth Diapers

Say goodbye to dunking your dirty cloth diapers in the toilet! Or, if you prefer to scrape ’em out with a spatula, get rid of that, too. The bumGenius Diaper Sprayer has been put on this Earth for a reason: to eliminate the messy work (aka poop) associated with cleaning cloth diapers. Using a diaper sprayer is awesome. It rinses your diapers in seconds without you having to stick your hands in poo water. All the “yuck” goes right into the toilet and, if you use it with a SprayPal, you can avoid any potential backsplash. The bumGenius diaper sprayer  is easy to install.

Review: Bravado Original Nursing Bra
June 19, 2014 7:15 pm | by

As a mom of 3 kids (all of whom I have nursed past 12 months), I have had my share of lousy nursing bras. I buy a new one only to wear it only a month or two because it stretches out, warps, or no longer fits. In my opinion, comfort is KEY when it comes to a nursing bra (or any bra for that matter)! So when I saw that the Original Bravado markets itself as a comfortable bra for a nursing mom’s changing body, I was definitely interested! And this bra is absolutely comfortable for three main reasons:

Thursday Giveaway: Accessorize!
June 18, 2014 5:17 pm | by

Find your favorite cloth diaper accessory. Whether it’s a diaper sprayer, wet bag, or bumGenius BabyLegs, cloth diaper accessories are meant to make cloth diapering easier. When you’re just starting out with cloth diapers, you may not even consider adding an accessory or two to your stash because cloth diapers alone can be a commitment. But, once you get the hang of things, you’ll find yourself wanting that bumGenius Diaper Sprayer to help rinse out your diapers before laundry day. For this week’s giveaway, we want to help enhance the cloth diapering experience and give more people a chance to try

Real Mom Talk: What Not to Say to a Pregnant Woman
June 16, 2014 8:00 pm | by

What is it about being pregnant that makes strangers lose any filter they may have had during social interactions? As you begin to look pregnant, suddenly everyone in the world has an opinion about the way you look, the foods you eat, the way you plan to feed your child, the size of your body, and a million other things. I’ve heard all of these things (directed at either me when I was pregnant or friends of mine when they were). Let’s all agree never to say them to any pregnant woman again. “Wow, you look so tired. It must
